Role
Who you are
- 5+ years industry experience in a backend software engineering role
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, or equivalent experience in a technical field such as Physics or Mathematics
- Passion for software engineering design, with an interest in the latest developments in AI/ML
- Enthusiasm for building user-facing products, shipping features quickly, and incorporating user feedback
- Strong technical communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to set technical and cultural standards for engineers, with a proven track record of technical leadership
What the job involves
- The Automate Team builds products that enable our customers to automate complex workflows for converting highly unstructured data (e.g. documents) into validated structured insights.
- Users can develop these workflows in Build, publish them as Apps, connect them to external production systems with Deployments, and monitor and improve the output in Review
- Designing and building robust, scalable backends
- Collaborating with frontend engineers to design the optimal APIs to deliver intuitive and snappy interfaces to end users
- Working with product managers and designers to understand user pain points and create the best product experience
- Interfacing with other engineering teams to ensure the features you own are integrated with downstream and upstream systems
- Troubleshooting production issues and contributing to improving stability through testing and other initiatives
- Setting the direction for not only your team but the entire engineering organization
- Improving the company through mentorship, interviewing, and new initiatives
- As a team, we move fast and are empowered to make product and design decisions. You will start contributing to our codebase week 1 and as an early team member, will help shape the backend and direction of our product
Our take
Instabase is a platform for businesses to build customisable apps for automating different parts of their business. For example, a bank could build an app to automatically verify customer income in a fraction of a second by combing through documents such as camera pictures or scans of payslips, tax documents, bank statements, and other similar documents submitted by the customer.
The platform comes equipped with the tools for reading documents, data extraction and classification, natural language processing, and optical character recognition. It's designed to enable creators, developers, and organizations to quickly build complex business applications based on their needs.
Instabase also offers an app store, which represents a growing marketplace of pre-packaged business apps for different industries. These include apps for things such as Income Verification, Adverse Media Analysis, Identity Verification, Trade Finance, Contract Analysis, and Financial Spreading.
