UnlikelyAI is a startup that uses Artificial Intelligence to solve challenges previously considered impossible for computers, aiming to push the revolutionary technology to new frontiers.

It's an early-stage company built from a unique AI model - neuro-symbolic AI. This model incorporates neural network approaches best known from the likes of OpenAI, but UnlikelyAI integrates this with Symbolic AI architecture. The latter can address the weaknesses of LLMs (mainly their "hallucinations) as it "mimics" human reasoning. Unlikely's first product was Crossword Genius - an app that uses AI and machine vision to solve cryptic crosswords.

The company has raised a large sum of money, most recently in an oversubscribed 2022 seed round. Its founder and CEO, William Tunstall-Pedoe, was heavily involved with the development and release of Amazon Alexa, boding well for Unlikely's success. 2024 leadership hires will revitalise the company's strategy and growth as it develops new products, whilst a partnership with Lloyds Banking Group, announced in 2025, will develop new customer experience opportunities.
