Role
Who you are
- We’re looking for a Software Engineer (Infrastructure / Developer Tooling) who’s passionate about building scalable systems and empowering developers with seamless tooling
- 3+ years of experience in Software Development or Infrastructure Engineering
- Ability to think with a mindset that focuses on internal customer needs and improving our platform to enable a great developer experience
- Keen eyes and take initiative to proactively improve our codebases and practices
- Strong background in infrastructure with experience in AWS and cloud services
- Familiarity with developer tooling and improving developer experience using data-driven metrics
- Skills to identify and resolve issues using observability tools
- Some experience with, or interest in learning Ruby to maintain Ruby-based internal tools
- Some experience acting as a point of contact for infrastructure needs and helping answer questions during on-call rotations
- Proficiency with infrastructure as code tools, preferably Terraform
- Solid understanding of containerized applications and deployment processes
- AI fluency: you’ve experimented with AI tools, and you’re curious about retooling workflows with automation to boost developer productivity
What the job involves
- You’ll focus on designing, maintaining, and improving Homebase’s AWS-based infrastructure and internal developer experience
- This is a unique opportunity to shape the foundation of engineering velocity at Homebase—helping every Homie ship faster, safer, and smarter
- Design, build, and maintain infrastructure and developer tooling that empower Homebase engineers to deliver exceptional software
- Lead improvements to internal developer tools that streamline workflows and reduce friction in the software lifecycle
- Drive the optimization of our AWS infrastructure for reliability, scalability, and performance
- Influence infrastructure architecture decisions by evaluating and implementing emerging cloud technologies and best practices
- Serve as a point of contact for infrastructure needs and on-call rotations, helping teams resolve questions and incidents
- Mentor junior engineers and collaborate across engineering teams to accelerate impact
- Experiment with AI-powered observability, automation, and workflow retooling to continuously improve developer velocity

Homebase provide employees and businesses with time tracking applications, with a range of other HR functionality built in. Homebase automates the process of managing employee scheduling, and also helps companies improve internal communications.
The company contributes to the reduction of paperwork in an office by turning an array of devices into time clocks that track hours and overtime, while also providing payroll support. This makes it easier for companies to remain in sync, running a more efficient operation as a result.
