Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of product management experience
- Ability to get things done: you have a track record of shipping software that made a difference for your customers
- Excellent product sense: you have a good understanding of what makes for a high-quality product and are opinionated about what solutions will be successful
- Deep customer empathy: you care about helping your customers and are skilled at performing research to uncover their true needs
- Strong data fluency: you effectively gather and integrate quantitative and qualitative data to inform your decision-making and update your intuition
- Proficiency handling ambiguity: you make sure your goals are clearly defined and display significant independence in achieving them
- Clear written and verbal communication: you’re a force for clarity and alignment, ensuring everyone’s on the same page
- Competence with technical complexity: you can understand the high-level architecture of a product and its implications for the customer experience, and you’re comfortable talking with engineers about project scope and tradeoffs
What the job involves
- In this role, you’ll partner closely with our talented design and engineering teams to build an exceptional guest-facing online ordering experience that delivers meaningful revenue growth for all of Owner’s restaurant customers
- Develop the roadmap for guest-facing ordering, balancing growth initiatives, experience improvements, and big strategic bets
- Drive more guests to order directly from Owner customers by making the experience fast, clear, and easy
- Use AI to optimize customers’ menu presentation at scale across tens of thousands of restaurant menus
- Elevate usability, accessibility, and product delight across every interaction
- Help Owner.com become the most loved brand in restaurant software
- Who you’ll work with:
- You’ll partner deeply with Design and Engineering to build polished, intuitive experiences that deliver value to our restaurant customers and their guests
- You’ll collaborate with Data/BizOps to identify and size opportunities, define KPIs, and understand impact
- You’ll work with our customer-facing Launch, Customer Success, and Support teams to ensure we have the right inputs to create the high-performing guest experiences for each customer restaurant
- You’ll work with our go-to-market teams to ensure that customers and prospects understand the value delivered by Owner’s guest-facing experiences
Our take
The Pandemic caused a major upheaval in the US restaurant industry. Smaller operations struggled to stay afloat amidst brick-and-mortar closures, and as the demand for home delivery soared their margins were tightened further by hefty third-party delivery app charges. Add to that the fact that consumers become customers of the delivery app, not the restaurant itself, and it’s a development that has spelt real trouble for independent locales. Owner has set out to level the playing field.
Owner’s platform provides independent restaurants with the infrastructure they need to take control of their business without deferring to third-party apps like GrubHub and Deliveroo. It offers marketing, online ordering, and support solutions to over 10,000 restaurants across the U.S. The company has taken impressive first strides, too: they have a 7 figure run-rate, over 105% monthly revenue retention, and helped restaurants avoid millions in online order platform fees.
It’s a hugely attractive proposition for independent business owners, and research suggests it’s a winning idea for consumers too. Over 60% say they’d prefer to deal with restaurants directly, but historically the infrastructure simply hasn’t been in place to do so. With Owner seeing impressive traction by tripling its customers between 2023 and 2024, it's unsurprising that its 2025 funding is being channelled into engineering and design teams, alongside the development of new tools.
