Role
Who you are
- You have strong UK payroll experience
- You have spent time in a payroll onboarding role, where you have carried out all key end-to-end tasks associated with onboarding a customer onto a new platform. This should including guiding customers through a detailed onboarding plan, ensuring they are always on track and meet all deadlines for their go live date
- You enjoy working with numbers and have experience with complex reconciliations
- You have run payrolls so you know what looks right and can spot anomalies
- You have dealt with queries on a wide range of payroll topics, from tax calculations, to statutory payments, to pension queries, amongst other things — bonus points if you have done this in a multi-client environment
- You have experience managing multiple customers at the same time and can demonstrate how you handled competing deadlines and priorities
- Demonstrable experience in guiding customers through system integrations and providing in-depth training sessions
What the job involves
- We're looking for someone with strong UK payroll expertise to join our Onboarding team and ensure our new customers receive an exceptional onboarding experience
- You will manage the process for new customers joining Pento, gather all their data to get them set up on the Pento system, build out the platform to their needs, and complete parallel runs so they get to value achievement as soon as possible
- Customer onboarding: Assist new customers in migrating from their previous payroll systems to Pento, ensuring a hassle-free experience
- Process enhancement: Continuously assess and refine onboarding processes for improved efficiency
- Cross-functional collaboration: Work together with Sales, Customer Success, and Support, ensuring feedback loops that improve the customer experience
- Training and support: Deliver comprehensive training sessions on Pento's features, while also assisting clients in setting up HMRC and HRIS integrations
- Data management: Proficient in Excel/Google Sheet, great at calculations, reconciling discrepancies, and driving towards process automation
- Adaptability: Comfortable in a dynamic startup environment, with the ability to handle competing priorities, deadlines and change well
- You work well with lots of questions and few answers. We're a startup trying to do something no one else has done before, which means we're dealing with a lot of questions and what-ifs
Our take
Many business processes have been made much simpler over the last 20 years. Payroll software, on the other hand, hasn't changed much. Running payroll still requires huge amounts of manual data entry, which leads to errors, lockdown periods and general frustration. Pento aims to change that by providing a SaaS-based online platform intended to optimize payroll services.
Its platform helps to automate payroll system and offer complementary features to employees, such as user-friendly access to pay history and personal pay-related data, enabling small and medium-sized companies to find a digital way to automate salary processing, taxes and is fully connected to HMRC. It operates a classic SaaS model, charging a monthly subscription per seat.
Typical Pento customers are companies with 1-150 employees, although the startup is also seeing quite a lot of demand from bigger companies too. It now boasts over 700 of these as customers. With enough recent funding, Pento is gearing up for significant improvements to its tech and expanding its team as needed in the next few years.
