Role
Who you are
- B.S. in computer science, computer, electrical or related engineering discipline
- 2+ years experience in aerospace or similar industry
- Familiarity with programming and scripting languages or ability to quickly learn them (i.e. Python, Tcl, C++, SQL)
- Hands-on experience using electrical test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.)
- Understanding and experience in environmental testing such as vibration, shock, thermal, burn-in, and TVAC
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated capability to jump into ill-defined problems and drive positive outcomes
Desirable
- Experience working in a Class 10k (ISO 7) cleanroom environment
- Documentation and configuration management experience
- Experience writing test plans, procedures and providing go/no-go judgment and rationale
- Experience troubleshooting electronics hardware
- Proficiency in understanding PCB schematics and layout tools
What the job involves
- Muon seeks a Spacecraft Test Engineer to join our Assembly, Integration, and Test team
- The ideal candidate is a self-motivated engineer and is responsible for understanding every system on the satellite
- Engineers on this team must have a working knowledge of design, schematics, operations, manufacturing, testing, and flight
- A successful Spacecraft Test Engineer demonstrates engineering intuition and critical thinking and is comfortable working under ambiguous requirements with minimal oversight
- They will interface with other engineers, subject matter experts, and technicians to solve production challenges, support with prototype projects, and to prepare flight hardware as a part of building the satellites
- Enable day-to-day execution of spacecraft electrical integration and test flow
- Evaluate non-conformances to determine root cause and create actionable items and system improvements
- Support engineering teams during development and pre-production phases of hardware life-cycles, including building pre-production, qualification, and flight hardware
- Support AIT in the setup and activation of production lines and development and qualification of hardware test setups
- Develop electrical test plans and procedures based on concepts and designs to verify as-built flight hardware and spacecraft
- Support flight and development hardware as well as ground support equipment and development/qualification test assets
- Perform bring-up and acceptance tests of PCBAs as required
Our take
Developing and operating satellites represents a significant challenge. Many organizations need accurate, space-based data but lack the resources or expertise to build their own spacecraft or manage the necessary ground systems and data processing.
To tackle this issue, Muon Space provides a service called Muon Halo. This allows customers to access satellite data without having to handle the technical details of satellite construction or operation. Muon offers end-to-end solutions, including building and launching satellites, managing operations, and processing collected data.
Muon has contracts with major customers like the US Air Force and US Space Force, and it is set to launch ten satellites between 2025 and 2026. With financial backing, the company is ready to expand its services and meet the growing demand for space-based solutions.
