What the job involves
- This role sits within the Operations team umbrella and forms part of our Customer Operations team. They are the face of Funding Circle and work passionately to make sure small businesses have an incredible experience in getting the funding they need
- In the Customer Operations team you will assist and help small business owners with queries about funding with us
- This role is to provide customer support to our borrowers, helping them understand what Funding Circle can offer them for their growth and expansion needs. As well as offering top quality service to our existing customers, and assisting them with whatever they need
- As a Customer Operations Executive supporting the Sales and Operations Channels, you embody one of our most important selling points: delivering customer value that drives customer satisfaction
- Alongside answering initial enquiries via email or telephone, you will help to deliver excellent customer service across a variety of responsibilities:
- Dealing with inbound enquiries, via telephone or email answering borrower’s questions/queries
- Requesting information from borrowers either by email or telephone
- Update the Salesforce CRM system with all relevant information so that loan applications can move through our funnel from application to offer
- Develop strong working relationships with 3rd party suppliers and FC internal departments
- Support the Direct business reporting by keeping information accurate and updated
- Proactively problem solving, identifying and confidently mitigating any risks, issues or control weaknesses that arise in your day-to-day
Our take
Funding Circle launched in 2010 and it was the perfect time in the market. After the financial crisis in 2008, financial institutions were hesitant to lend money. Loans to SMEs were at record lows.
This meant that Funding Circle's innovative platform - connecting investors and businesses directly - had immediate product-market fit and growth. Funding Circle remains incredibly focused on small businesses, and this set it apart from other lending platforms. The business has since expanded to the USA.
The company completed its IPO in September 2018 in a challenging economic environment in Europe and the USA. In 2020, however, trading in the group’s core UK market was helped by its participation in the government’s Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme – the company says it has been responsible for a quarter of CBILS loans by volume since it was accredited to join the scheme in April 2020. Funding Circle continues to be a leading SME financing platform, exemplified by its partnership with Bayview Asset Management, with whom it has surpassed £1 billion in funding for its Term Lending product.
