Role
Who you are
- 3+ years of experience in multi-state payroll processing, benefits administration, and payroll compliance
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations, as well as employment laws
- Experience with HRIS and payroll software (Rippling is a plus)
- Knowledge of employee benefits programs and regulations (ERISA, ACA, HIPAA)
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
What the job involves
- As our Payroll and Benefits Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all payroll and benefits processes
- You will ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll for our nationwide, remote team of hourly & salaried employees as well as independent contractors. In addition, you will manage tax and compliance obligations, and coordinate employee benefits programs
- This role requires a highly organized individual with strong knowledge of payroll processes, tax regulations, and benefits administration
- You will collaborate closely with the People and Finance teams to support our growing employee base and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- This is a fully remote position reporting up to the Head of People
- Manage multi-state, end-to-end payroll processing for all hourly and salaried employees and contractors, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Troubleshoot and resolve any payroll-related issues or discrepancies in a timely manner
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements, including registration, reporting, and filing
- Oversee the administration of benefits programs, including health insurance, 401(k), and other benefits
- Manage open enrollment periods, ensuring employees have the necessary information to make informed choices
- Collaborate with brokers and vendors to ensure benefit offerings are competitive and cost-effective
- Manage year-end processes, including preparing W-2s and 1099 forms in partnership with our payroll provider
- Act as a primary point of contact for employees regarding payroll & benefits inquiries
- Create Standard Operating Procedures for payroll and benefits administration to support organizational growth
