Who you are
- Experience with technologies such as React Native, React, and Next.js
- Experience working in a fast-paced, startup environment
- Drivers, not passengers
- Experience deploying web services in production
- 5+ years of industry experience as a software engineer post-graduation
- At least a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field
What the job involves
- TruckSmarter is hiring a leader to own our frontend development platforms
- Owning large surface area within our product & see things go from 0 to 1
- Comfort in ambiguous situations. As one of the first FE developers, you'll be responsible for scaffolding out new web services and deciding on what tools and frameworks we will use moving forward
- Working across the entire product lifecycle from conceptualization through production
- A collaborative startup where you have full autonomy over your work, and can make direct impact on both the users and the team
- Solving problems with pragmatic yet sophisticated solutions --- you know how to strive for simplicity without compromising the more complex use cases
- Shaping the culture and leading the team through recruiting, mentorship, and establishing best practices
- Comfortable with giving feedback to and gathering feedback from other designers across product and brand
- Work cross-functionally with the team to shape the product from strategy, definition to execution, validation, and future iterations
- Empathizing with the user and being an advocate for user experience
- Work on developing a scalable cross-platform design system ensuring consistency across our product suite
- Design frontend deployment pipelines balancing velocity and reliability to help frontend engineers build excellent product experiences for our users
- Make crucial architectural decisions impact that will impact feature development for years to come
- Define the roadmap for TruckSmarter’s frontend platform, own and execute on significant initiatives
Our take
The massive rise in eCommerce means that truck drivers are at an all-time demand, but the trucking industry massively lags behind many others in technological advancements. TruckSmarter delivers a free platform that allows truckers, carriers, and dispatchers to search and book loads, streamlining the entire trucking process.
The trucking industry has been historically fragmented, with truckers wasting countless hours searching for their next gig, followed by more time waiting to be loaded or unloaded – which can be very detrimental to truckers who are often paid per mile. Trucksmarter digital trucking platform addresses all these problems. It stands out from the competition – other companies which have sprung up to modernise trucking – by being a free to use service. It makes its revenue by offering truckers same-day payments for each load, in exchange for small percentage of their fee, rather than charging to use the load board itself.
TruckSmarter has raised an impressive amount of funding from top investors and names in the industry, showing the respect for and interest in its solution. The investment will be used to add more finance and banking tools to the company’s driver ecosystem.
