Role
Who you are
- If you’re excited to shape how the world works, you’ll help build systems used daily across Microsoft Teams, Zoom, ServiceNow, Zendesk, GitHub, and many more
- 7+ years of software engineering experience building production distributed systems or cloud‑native applications
- BS/BA in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Strong coding skills in at least one of: Python, Go, Java, C++, Javascript
- Product‑minded: you prioritize customer impact, clear SLAs/SLOs, and pragmatic iteration
- Ownership‑driven with a positive, proactive attitude; comfortable leading projects or learning from battle‑tested engineers
- You have experience building enterprise SaaS, enterprise platform, admin console, or similarly configurable product experiences
- Experience working on products where usability, governance, permissions, and technical complexity all matter
- Experience mentoring engineers with different technical strengths, including frontend and backend team members
- Ability to operate in ambiguity and shape roadmap, architecture, and team execution in a fast-moving environment
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and comfort partnering with product, design, security, and platform teams
What the job involves
- You'll be deeply embedded where people get things done. You'll ship agentic capabilities on an open, extensible stack, with the craft and care required for enterprise trust, as we bring Work AI to every employee, in every company
- We’re hiring a Tech Lead for our Admin Console team to engineer one of the most important product surfaces at Glean: the admin experience that helps customers deploy, govern, and scale Glean across their organizations
- This is a high-impact, full-stack role for an engineer who can guide architecture, partner deeply with product and design, and grow a small but strategically important team
- The Admin Console is the control plane for enterprise activation, admin confidence, and scalable rollout
- Admins use it to configure authentication, data sources, permissions, governance, search settings, AI features, and deployment health from a self-serve central hub
- As Glean evolves from a search company into an AI platform, this team’s mission is evolving too: from managing data sources to helping admins manage the broader context layer of the system, including actions, live data, governance, and AI configuration
- Lead and grow the Admin Console engineering team, owning strong technical direction
- Own architecture and execution for core admin-facing workflows including data source setup, security configuration, deployment management, and feature rollout controls
- Partner closely with Product and Design to simplify complex enterprise workflows and make the admin experience more intuitive and scalable
- Help evolve the Admin Console from a system centered on crawlers and data setup into a broader control plane for enterprise context, actions, governance, and AI capability management
- Improve self-serve activation so admins can get their organizations up and running faster, with less dependency on human support
- Improve visibility into crawl health, connector status, indexing progress, permissions, and rollout readiness so admins can confidently understand what is happening in their deployment
- Build systems and workflows that help admins safely scale Glean across users, teams, and capabilities over time through a coherent interface
- Collaborate deeply with backend, connector, infra, and security teams to deliver unified admin experiences that sit on top of platform and infrastructure layers
Our take
Glean is an intuitive digital assistant which allows employees to search across all their apps and find the information and tools that they need more quickly.
With so many SaaS apps being used by modern day companies, overwhelm and inefficiency inevitably enter the equation. Glean’s search engine is proving popular for how it unifies and centralizes all these distributed tools and data.
It’s been quite a start to life at Glean, having emerged from stealth in 2021, it received a $1B valuation in early 2022, thus achieving unicorn status. Since then, the company has gone on to raise substantial funding and bring its valuation up to $7.2B in 2025. With this impressive growth, its secured some big name customers like Grammarly, databricks, and Rubrik.
That Glean was co-founded by a quartet with senior experience at Google, Microsoft, Uber, and Facebook stands the company in good stead. However, it’s the fact that its search engine is solving a new, but very real problem in the workplace that’s seen its popularity surge so quickly, which it’s likely to continue to do in the future. And its adaptability to include new AI capabilities to its platform, such as generative AI, has Glean well set to see further growth.
