Our take
Dott is a European micro-mobility startup known for its scooter-sharing service. More recently, the company added an electric bike-sharing service in some cities. It is targeting a 100% electric logistics fleet and renewable energy in all its cities. The service is designed to be as accessible as possible, and Dott works closely with local communities, aiming for equal coverage across the areas it serves and partnering with local organisations to help improve the cities in which it operates.
The company covers 36 cities across nine European countries and since 2021, it's fleet has doubled in the number of rides per year. Dott competes with several micromobility startups in Europe, such as Tier, Lime and Voi. They are quite similar; most of them work with Okai to design their scooters, but they don’t necessarily operate in the same markets. One interesting USP is Dott's partnership with startup Omni, which saw a fleet of wheelchair-adaptive scooters being released to the public.
Dott has diversified its product offering with electric bikes, which may be a smart move to continue its growth, as the regulatory landscape is still evolving. That being said, they have benefitted from major investment over 2022 to the sum of $70 million dollars.
