What the job involves
- As a Financial Analyst, you will play a critical role in our financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes
- You will drive financial decision-making across the company with a focus on corporate performance
- This will be a forward-facing role with exposure to key business leaders and requires collaboration across multiple departments
- Ability and track record for driving process improvements in the G&A functional areas by working closely with procurement, legal, and accounting
- Reporting: Budget/variance analysis, OPEX reports, and maintain integrated reporting tools
- Support the annual planning and quarterly forecast process
- Assist with the development and maintenance of the company’s financial models
- Support budget analysis, headcount updates, PO approvals, and ad-hoc reporting
- Support all monthly, quarterly, and annual models used for reporting financials to the management team
- Provide analytical support for various Finance-driven projects and initiatives, as needed
- Perform analysis to review trends, KPI metrics, budget vs. actuals, and financial data
- Knowledge of Oracle financials, planning, and Essbase
- Partner with team members across the organization to collect relevant information
- Provide supporting data, reports, and slides, as needed
- Document standard processes and best practices regularly
- Review, understand and ensure compliance with Invitae HIPAA Security policies and procedures
- Safeguarding the privacy and security of protected health information
- Complete all required EHS training
- Wear appropriate PPE as required
- Comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, Invitae EHS policies, and procedures, and the requirements of accrediting organizations and work in a safe and responsible manner
- This position does not have any direct supervisory responsibilities
- This position operates in a professional office environment
- The job requires an individual to routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers
- This is a full-time position working standard business hours. This position may require the flexibility to work diverse schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Our take
Invitae is a medical genetics company that is focused on bringing comprehensive genetic information into mainstream medicine, to improve healthcare for all people at any stage of their life. Its platform is made for providers and patients, with the ability to customize genetic tests in just a few clicks, and flexible pricing that ensures the service is widely accessible.
Despite being lauded for its low selling prices and high testing volume - which makes clinical-grade genetic testing available to the masses - Invitae has received criticism for the way it has been managed. This resulted in a strategic restructuring of the company in 2022, which deprioritised the company's focus on growth, so it could focus on becoming a more sustainable business. In 2024, it listed itself as bankrupt and through a sale, was purchased by Labcorp.
Despite this tumult, Invitae's new home at Labcorp means the company can still extend its platform. Further development of Invitae will be fueled by a range of investments in the form of convertible debt due in 2028 and share exchanges.
