Who you are
- The role requires an experienced engineering leader with excellent cross-functional and communication skills as well as backgrounds in operations, software development, systems performance and resilience engineering. Always focusing on the quality experience of our customers
- 3+ years of experience managing a team of engineers
- 5+ years of experience with software development
- BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject
- Consistent track record of performance management and career development of individual contributors
- Ability to engage in technical and business discussions from both tactical and strategic viewpoints
- Experience with operating in Cloud and distributed systems
- Experience with Continuous Delivery principles and techniques
- Experience with DevOps and full ownership of services from development to production
- Ability to balance delivering on business objectives while also protecting the long term quality of platform
- Experience leading cross-organizational efforts with different teams to ensure successful delivery of projects
Desirable
- Expertise building and deploying software using cloud services and AWS platforms including VPCs, ECS/EKS, etc
- Experience re-writing legacy C++ into Python
- Experience working in highly regulated environments such as FinTech
What the job involves
- As the manager of the Galileo Account Management team, you will be responsible for leading a team to build the next generation platform that will help Galileo clients scale their product offerings
- We are building Account Onboarding, Lifecycle Management and Client Onboarding tools from the ground up and we need an engineering leader who can balance tactical investments in the current platform whilst leading the team to rebuild the new one
- Own the vision of the future Galileo Account Management platform
- Lead by example, care for the team and establish credibility with the quality of the team’s technical execution
- Lead the development, delivery and operation of the platform
- Dive deep into the domain and ensure that the right boundaries exist between platform capabilities
- Proactively ensure the highest levels of system availability
- Nurture a culture of continuous improvement and blameless retrospection within the organization
- Grow and mentor a team of engineers, building their talents by exposing them to new challenges and experiences
- Participate in deep technical design discussions within the team, and across partner teams to ensure that we're building the right systems and keeping the quality high
- Track project performance against defined milestones/goals
- Conduct process improvement projects to increase performance in vital program metrics
- Communicate ongoing project health with key stakeholders and business leadership

While companies like Revolut, Monzo, and Wise have been at the forefront of this digital revolution, Galileo has been a major background player.
In essence, the 2001-founded company provides some of the world’s leading fintechs (including the aforementioned Monzo and Wise), with the software and infrastructure they need to issue cards, process payments, and build innovative digital banking products.
The Fintech industry as a whole sat up and took notice when SoFi acquired Galileo for $1.2 billion in 2020, a year before going public. However, it's worth noting that since then, Galileo has continued operating as an independent subsidiary.
New partnerships with the likes of Fundbox and Global Rewards indicate that business is still booming for Galileo, while the company also looks to be exploring new, potentially very lucrative avenues in the crypto industry.
