Role
Who you are
- You have 5+ years of experience as a product manager, including 3+ years in a New Products or Innovation capacity
- You have experience being client facing, either as a seller or in a business development capacity
- You’re a structured problem-solver with an interest in improving the lives of agricultural farmworkers and the viability of the agriculture industry
- You are interested in autonomously owning a roadmap
- You like talking to customers and can quickly build credibility and trust
- You have a strong track record of delivering key business results
What the job involves
- We are looking for an Innovation Product Manager to own creation and delivery of a roadmap of new product ideas that will make a step-change in the our customers’ businesses and in Seso’s
- The role has both a high level of autonomy and ownership
- You will be responsible for working with a diverse set of senior leaders to look across the agribusiness landscape and identify new pools of value for Seso (think working at high abstraction levels to solve key company business goals vs. solve a specific problem)
- You will be responsible for designing and implementing a prioritization framework, identifying the most attractive opportunities, and defining solutions — this is a role that is as much “zero to one” as “pre-zero to zero.”
- We want someone capable of going broad and deep, and using data to understand when to switch modes
- Owning and delivering discovery of new pools of value for Seso across technical products, services, insurance, and others
- Working closely with design, engineering, and revenue stakeholders to define a cohesive product strategy and roadmap
- Translating ambiguous or complex ideas into clear, executable projects
- Spending time to deeply understand and elevate the voices of our users
- Combining qualitative research with quantitative analysis to inform product decisions
- Owning and driving the product lifecycle from ideation through implementation and launch
Our take
Sweeping changes to migration policy have created a dramatic labor shortage in the US agriculture industry. This has had significant knock-on effects on farmers, the communities they support, and the economy as a whole. Seso is setting out to help solve this problem with its innovative agricultural workforce platform.
Seso was founded by two former analysts who turned their expertise towards the underserved agricultural industry. Working to address labor shortages, Seso is streamlining the H-2A visa process for workers, giving farms access to a large network of legal migrant workers. The company is looking to develop and deploy more services for the workers themselves, as well as for their employers. This will create an impressively wide range of revenue lines for Seso moving forward.
With pressures on producers continuing to mount, demand for solutions like Seso's is likely to grow in the next decade. The company is well-positioned to take advantage of this trend, but it faces significant competition from larger H-2A worker program providers. As such, diversification will be key to Seso's continued survival.
