- 6+ years of experience in data science, applied machine learning, or AI product development
- 2+ years in a people leadership role, mentoring and growing data scientists
- Strong background in machine learning (optimization, traditional ML, or frontier models)
- Proven track record of shipping ML models into production
- Proficient in SQL and Python
- Strong people leader with a focus on growth, empathy, and impact
- Strong ability to partner cross-functionally with business and product teams

What the job involves
- We’re hiring a Manager, Data Science who’s excited to lead a team transforming how data powers product, platform, and people at Homebase
- You’ll manage a growing team of data scientists and partner with platform engineering to bring models from proof-of-concept to production
- Lead and grow a team of high-performing data scientists; mentor them to think like product and business owners
- Support end-to-end delivery of models powering product features (e.g., scheduling, hiring, payroll, pricing, personalization) and internal systems (e.g., sales/marketing targeting)
- Champion experimentation: design A/B and multivariate tests that help us move faster and make better decisions
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Design to ensure data and AI are embedded into user experiences from day one
- Serve as a trusted thought partner to cross-functional leaders, product managers, and executive stakeholders

Homebase provide employees and businesses with time tracking applications, with a range of other HR functionality built in. Homebase automates the process of managing employee scheduling, and also helps companies improve internal communications.
The company contributes to the reduction of paperwork in an office by turning an array of devices into time clocks that track hours and overtime, while also providing payroll support. This makes it easier for companies to remain in sync, running a more efficient operation as a result.
Given that Homebase's customer base of small businesses is not able to pay a lot for its product, scale is the key driver in the company's future success.
