Who you are
- We are looking for experienced developers. You have a CS degree or equivalent knowledge, and you have been coding full time professionally for 6+ years
- We're looking for someone with production experience with Golang (or other C-family languages)
- You have proven experience (1-2+ years) managing a team of developers and you, as a tech lead, are expected to support and actively interact with the different members and foster a positive growth environment
- You should highly value empathy and have pride in your ability to contribute to a happy, engaged and respectful work environment
- You should be comfortable and excited to dive into more advanced topics, e.g. build pipelines, caching mechanisms, database optimisation, etc
- Since we're a small team, we want to automate a lot. You should have experience with CI and testing frameworks
- You want to become a technical owner of a part of our code base - we need people who are looking for responsibilities
- You are proactive and proficient in the entire product development flow: asking questions, clarifying specs, raising doubts and engaging in meetings
- Product and Engineering work in a fully remote setup where writing skills are more and more important, so written questions/requirements/docs are very valuable
What the job involves
- Aftercare provider operations are becoming increasingly complex and data-driven. Bringing change is very hard — but we're not afraid :). You'll build features that help care facilities, rehabilitation centers, and healthcare chains better allocate resources, unlock actionable insights from patient data, and integrate Recare seamlessly into their internal systems
- Our ambitious roadmap focuses on expanding our marketplace's receiver side with enhanced analytics tools, B2C platforms connecting providers directly with patients, expanded API integrations, and much more
- Secure communication is at our core—our solution provides end-to-end encryption for healthcare professionals to safely exchange messages and patient data through both our applications and external API integrations

- Work with Purpose - Your work has a real impact on patients and healthcare professionals in the medical field
- Technical Leadership: Drive architectural decisions, code quality, and engineering best practices, identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies and suggest/implement improvements
- Team Leadership: Handle onboarding, conflict resolution and help developers grow through mentorship, feedback discussions, performance reviews, code reviews, and pair programming
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product and design to translate business needs into technical solutions, and communicate technical progress, risks and trade-offs, serving as the communication layer between engineering, product, design and QA
- Project Delivery: Own the technical roadmap for your team and ensure projects are delivered on time and to a high standard, lead meetings, prioritise bugs and feature requests, identify and remove blockers for the team, help product managers break down features into deliverable tasks, and work together with the product managers to help define and deliver the team's roadmap
- Golang: Our entire backend codebase is in Golang (and we love it!). It’s easy to learn, it’s strongly typed, the internal tooling is fantastic and it compiles fast
- Postgres: We use postgres for our databases and GORM to interface with it
- CI/DevOps: We use both CircleCI and GithubActions to run our unit and integration tests, visual regression tests (in-house), and automated code analysis (SonarCloud). They’re also used to deploy to our various environments
- We also dedicate some of our time to work on non "business" tasks, it means for instance to:
- Continuously optimise the backend code to offer the best user experience
- Analyse and improve database slowdowns and issues
- Internal automation (we want to make our lives easier!)
- Build additional tooling (such as performance profiling tools to identify bottlenecks in backend services and optimize resource usage)
- Our philosophy is that developers are owners of the code they write until it gets to production. We rely a lot on automated tests to ensure everything stays stable - the rule is that code could be deployed at any time - manual QA is only involved in new feature validation
Our take
Discharging and transferring patients from hospitals to other care facilities is a lengthy process, weighed down by a heap of administrative tasks and paperwork. This is bad for both patients and hospitals, which is why Recare has stepped up to help improve the process.
The company supplies a digital discharge management platform to automate some of the administration associated with patient transfers. In a nutshell, it enables hospital workers to find the right aftercare facilities for their patients by simply entering their needs, and subsequently request a transfer online.
This approach benefits patients by supplying the care they need, hospitals by reducing stay time, and aftercare facilities by enabling them to optimise the use of their capacity. Its a promising concept, and has earned Recare a good amount of funding which is being used to expand its marketplace and bring faster aftercare to more patients.
