Role
Who you are
- Understanding of employee experience, inclusion and wellbeing design, including how to map key moments, spot friction points and choose the right approach
- Experience using employee voice techniques, such as surveys and focus groups, with ethical and inclusive practices
- Ability to create practical tools for managers and confidently facilitate group sessions to support engagement and wellbeing
- Knowledge of digital experience and accessibility basics, and ability to contribute clear, inclusive content and feedback
- Skill in applying inclusion principles to everyday processes, making hiring, onboarding, development and recognition fair and accessible
- Ability to check for equity and accessibility, reviewing changes and supporting reasonable adjustments
- Understanding of wellbeing and job design, and how to build clarity, autonomy and psychological safety into team routines
- Confidence in facilitating sensitive conversations safely, and supporting Employee Networks with clear guidance and feedback loops
- Ability to interpret and communicate insights clearly, combining data and feedback to support decisions and track progress
- Strong collaboration skills—working across HR, Technology, Internal Communications and Employee Networks to deliver joined-up improvements

What the job involves
- Reports to: Head of Organisational Effectiveness

- As an Employee Experience & Inclusion Advisor, you’ll turn colleague voice and experience signals into insights, identifying practical changes that make a real difference to everyday experiences. From shaping policies and processes to creating tools and resources, you’ll help embed inclusion and wellbeing into everything we do
- You’ll join a team of two Advisors, each with a unique focus: one leading on Insights & Voice, the other on Solutions & Adoption. Together, you’ll make sure every voice is heard and every improvement lands
- Listen and learn—run surveys, forums and other feedback activities, ensuring they’re ethical, inclusive and accessible
- Turn insights into action—summarise feedback, extract insight, track progress and visibly close the loop with contributors
- Design practical improvements—work with others to create simple, scalable changes to policies and processes
- Create useful tools for managers—develop guides, prompts and support team sessions that build engagement, inclusion and wellbeing
- Champion everyday wellbeing—translate insights into practices that promote clarity, recovery and psychological safety, and signpost support where needed
- Maintain and improve recognition tools—check they’re fair and inclusive, and suggest updates to increase impact
- Support digital experience improvements—identify friction points and accessibility issues, and test fixes with users
- Manage workstreams effectively—track plans, risks and dependencies, and escalate issues when needed
- Collaborate across teams—coordinate with HRBPs, Internal Communications and Employee Networks to ensure joined-up delivery
- Embed inclusion and engagement goals—help teams apply standards consistently in everyday practice
- Safeguard fairness and confidentiality—apply ethical, inclusive principles in every decision and opportunity
- And, of course, you’ll be committed to our mission to beat cancer sooner, bringing your expertise to help us create a workplace that reflects our values and ambition

Our take
The world’s largest independent cancer research charity, Cancer Research UK (CRUK) was founded from a merger between the Cancer Research Campaign and the Cancer Research Fund in 2002. CRC and ICRF had been longstanding pinnacles of the British medical institution, their work dating back to 1902 and 1923 respectively, and the merger signalled a strong step forward for UK medical institutes’ global influence.
A multi-armed charity, CRUK uses both grant-funded researchers and its own employed staff to research the treatments and causes of cancer, whilst its striking advertising and marketing campaigns are responsible for influencing public policy on the causes, prevention, and treatment of the disease. An example of a significant public campaign was Stoptober, which appeared to have triggered a third of a million smokers at the time to try quit tobacco throughout the month of October.
Alongside its pharmaceutical efforts, in 2023 CRUK funded clinical trials for the first-ever proton beam therapy for breast cancer, indicating a focus on technological innovations in the fight against cancer. On this subject, CRUK has also taken part in a billion-pound investment in the Francis Crick Institute, a biomedical research institute that is aiming to make England an international leader in the industry.
