Who you are

Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent education and experience
5-10 years as a UX Researcher for mass-market Web and Mobile products
A solid grasp of user-centered testing methodologies, usability and accessibility concerns
Knowledge of the field of human-computer interaction, experimental design, observational and field methods and data analysis
End-to-end experience with all aspects of research (study design, recruiting, moderation/implementation, analysis, reporting)
Able to provide samples of work that show the types of research you have done, how you approach problems, and how you deliver results
Excellent written and verbal communication

What the job involves

The User Experience Research team at People Inc. evaluates the consumer experience for premium brands such as People, Entertainment Weekly, Allrecipes, MyRecipes, Investopedia, Travel + Leisure and many more
We partner with the UX Design team and provide insights for engaging experiences that excite users and amplify the voice of our brands
We are looking for a Sr. UX Researcher to represent our users throughout the design process
You will bring skills as a usability expert and researcher to ensure that the needs of our end users, advertisers, product, and editorial teams are being incorporated to drive customer engagement across our brands and digital platforms
Develop, produce and maintain research artifacts for studies following our existing framework
Conduct moderated and unmoderated studies on your own, with some guidance
Clearly articulate insights from findings. Translate insights into clear, actionable recommendations
Communicate with the product owners, designers, and research team
Thoroughly investigate and advocate for the wants and needs of our users
Understand and have experience with a range of user research methods
Develop and refine research methods and processes
Understand how to apply a range of techniques for the analysis of research data and synthesis of findings
Translate user needs and design requirements into concrete study plans, scripts, and findings
Contribute to overall end-to-end research strategy for key experiences, from planning to execution

Gather and synthesize research requirements
Design and prepare research studies
Conduct user interviews and usability studies
Analyze results to provide actionable findings and recommendations
Provide insights into user needs and behaviors across experiences
30% Team Collaboration:
Partner with UX design and project leads to validate assumptions, test designs, and understand user data
Present research findings and insights and build consensus among a broad range of stakeholders
Participate in discussions that foster big-picture thinking
5% Process Management:
Collaborate with UX designers and project leads to develop and implement research and testing best practices

Formed from the 2021 acquisition of Meredith by Dotdash, Meredith Dotdash is the largest digital and print publisher in the US, encompassing over 40 brands, such as PEOPLE, Better Homes & Gardens, Verywell, Allrecipes, and many more.

The approach that built this media giant was to build websites with fast load-times and few adds. A clean site keeps readers longer, boosting its rankings in search algorithms. Ads can then be less frequent but sold at a premium, because of the readership. The company was also an early adopter of affiliate links through product reviews and articles that suggest items for purchase.

The merger of the Dotdash and Meredith teams and tech brought benefits in both directions, making Meredith sites faster and increasing story output for Dotdash. In 2023, the company launched a targeting tool named D/Cipher - that makes intent-based targeting possible at scale, without cookies. This showcases that the giant is entirely able to move at the front of the tech-evolving ad media landscape. Indeed, Meredith Dotdash is reportedly bucking the trend of news media financial downturns in 2025 with digital revenue increases of 13% year on year.
