Role
Who you are
- 4+ years’ experience in customer marketing, lifecycle marketing, or product marketing (B2B SaaS or B2C at scale)
- Proven ability to influence customer behavior through effective content and communications
- Strong storyteller with excellent writing skills across channels (email, in-app, webinars, educational content)
- Comfortable working cross-functionally, especially with Customer Success and Product Marketing
- Analytical mindset — able to measure the impact of campaigns and optimize for retention
- Excitement to be part of a growing team and help shape the foundation of Customer Marketing at our company
What the job involves
- We’re scaling our Customer Marketing function to drive one of the company’s very top priorities: retaining and growing our existing customer base
- Our restaurants already love the value we deliver, and now we’re looking for a Customer Marketing Manager to help them get even more out of the product — whether that’s through better onboarding, deeper feature adoption, or ongoing education
- If you’re excited about helping customers succeed at scale and fueling word-of-mouth growth, this is the role for you
- As Customer Marketing Manager, you’ll design and execute programs that inspire, educate, and engage our customers — ultimately driving retention and advocacy
- You’ll work closely with our Customer Success team to build communications and resources that make customers more successful in their day-to-day operations
- From lifecycle campaigns and webinars to help center content and CSM enablement, you’ll be at the center of how we help customers unlock the full potential of our platform
- Lead campaigns (email, push, SMS, webinars) that increase adoption and retention
- Partner with Customer Success to develop content and resources that drive product engagement and make restaurants more successful
- Launch scalable customer programs that highlight new features, keep customers excited, and improve overall configuration and usage
- Build materials that support CSMs in their customer conversations and help customers self-serve through our help center
- Track the impact of your initiatives through key metrics like adoption, engagement, and retention
Our take
The Pandemic caused a major upheaval in the US restaurant industry. Smaller operations struggled to stay afloat amidst brick-and-mortar closures, and as the demand for home delivery soared their margins were tightened further by hefty third-party delivery app charges. Add to that the fact that consumers become customers of the delivery app, not the restaurant itself, and it’s a development that has spelt real trouble for independent locales. Owner has set out to level the playing field.
Owner’s platform provides independent restaurants with the infrastructure they need to take control of their business without deferring to third-party apps like GrubHub and Deliveroo. It offers marketing, online ordering, and support solutions to over 10,000 restaurants across the U.S. The company has taken impressive first strides, too: they have a 7 figure run-rate, over 105% monthly revenue retention, and helped restaurants avoid millions in online order platform fees.
It’s a hugely attractive proposition for independent business owners, and research suggests it’s a winning idea for consumers too. Over 60% say they’d prefer to deal with restaurants directly, but historically the infrastructure simply hasn’t been in place to do so. With Owner seeing impressive traction by tripling its customers between 2023 and 2024, it's unsurprising that its 2025 funding is being channelled into engineering and design teams, alongside the development of new tools.
