Who you are
- Proven experience leading QA teams and developing comprehensive QA strategies in a technology-driven organization
- Strong expertise in QA automation frameworks and tools, with a track record of successful implementation
- Experience with non-functional testing, including performance, load, and failover testing
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and integrating QA automation into development workflows
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels
- Familiarity with compliance and regulatory requirements relevant to SaaS and enterprise technology solutions
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
- Strategic thinker with a focus on delivering measurable results
- Collaborative mindset with a natural ability to build strong relationships
- Proactive problem-solver who can balance technical and business considerations

What the job involves
- The Director of Engineering, Quality will be responsible for establishing and executing a cohesive QA strategy that integrates manual testing, automation, and non-functional testing into a single, unified approach
- As a key member of the technology senior management team, this role will work closely with engineering, product, and release management teams to elevate quality as a cultural tenet across the organisation
- Reporting directly to the CTO, the Director will lead efforts to design and optimise quality processes, implement quality gates, and define best practices for manual, automation, performance, load, failover, and other forms of non-functional testing
- The successful candidate will have a strong background in building scalable QA strategies and managing QA teams
- They will also have deep technical expertise in automation frameworks, and the ability to collaborate across functions to ensure a high level of quality in all aspects of solution delivery
- Define and implement a unified QA strategy that combines manual, automation, and non-functional testing
- Establish quality gates and standardize processes to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality solutions
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive suite of non-functional tests, including performance, load, scalability, and failover testing
- Build, lead, and mentor a team of QA engineers specializing in manual, automation, and non-functional testing
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging innovation in testing methodologies and tools
- Ensure effective resource planning and allocation to meet project demands
- Optimise and report on team performance and productivity
- Design and optimize QA workflows to align with Agile development practices
- Ensure that QA automation is effective, scalable, and integrated into CI/CD pipelines
- Balance the use of automation and manual testing to maximize efficiency and effectiveness
- Work closely with release managers, engineering managers, and product managers to align QA efforts with business objectives
- Promote quality as a cultural value across the organization, driving cross-functional collaboration to improve overall standards
- Serve as the primary point of contact for quality-related issues and initiatives
- Identify and mitigate quality risks throughout the development lifecycle
- Define and track KPIs to measure the effectiveness of QA processes and identify areas for improvement
- Provide regular updates to executive leadership on QA performance and initiatives
