Who you are
- Entry level experience working in an SRE, DevOps or software engineering role
- An ability to write software and working knowledge of software engineering practice
- Experience using infrastructure-as-code tools to build and run cloud infrastructure
- Experience working on fast-paced Agile teams and continuously evolving environments
- Open Communication: clearly conveys thoughts, both written and verbally, listening attentively and asking questions for clarification and understanding

- Preferred. Working knowledge of Linux systems administration, including troubleshooting system-level issues, networking (L3-L7) and basic monitoring
- Preferred. Experience with operating, building and maintaining cloud infrastructure
- Preferred. An understanding of SaaS software development practice; ideally you have experience working on a SaaS product
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a Junior Software Developer, DevOps who can help us support the development organization to deliver value to customers in a reliable, efficient, and safe manner.
- You’ll be supporting the team that owns one or more pieces of the production application environment and the developer experience.
- In line with Hootsuite's distributed workforce strategy, our flexible work arrangement allows for remote work or a hybrid model.
- In this role, you will report to the Manager, DevOps
- Write software - tools, libraries, automation, services
- Build and maintain our infrastructure platform
- Implement new platform features
- Assist in the research and evaluation of new technologies
- Refactor, rewrite or retire existing platform features
- Operate our developer experience and production application environments
- Diagnose and repair our distributed systems
- Perform maintenance, upgrades,, and migrations
- Control or eliminate repetitive tasks, alert noise, and business-as-usual work
- Enable development teams
- Provide executable interfaces to our infrastructure platform
- Provide tools and best practices to support the entire software development lifecycle
- Communicate by writing documentation, participating in meetings, and showing off your
- Work at demos

Thought Hootsuite's plans for an IPO didn't survive the tough economic conditions of 2022 (like many of its peers, the company engaged in several rounds of layoffs), it has since reworked its leadership team to get back on course as the economy recovers.
Just like its acquisition of Sparkcentral saw the company expand into customer service, its more recent purchase of Talkwalker sees it integrate AI into its platform. The combined offering will supply businesses with a social media performance engine to turn insights into action, all fuelled by artificial intelligence.
