Role
Who you are
- 3+ years experience leading a team, with a strong focus on team development and performance optimization
- 3+ years of experience in a customer-facing role, ideally within the hospitality and/or restaurant technology industry
- Experience with customer relationship management and revenue growth, including upselling, cross-selling, and retention strategies
- Strong multitasking and prioritization skills, with a focus on time management and organization
- Excellent communication, leadership, and negotiation skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Salesforce, Data Visualization tools, and DAG
- Must be able to be in New York City on regular basis (up to 3 days a week)
What the job involves
- Reporting to the District Director, New York, Restaurant Sales, and Services, this position leads a team of Account Managers to achieve their goals focused on customer retention and revenue growth within their assigned markets
- You will play a crucial role in developing the team, optimizing performance, and ensuring each member has the leadership and resources needed to excel. By understanding local market conditions and challenges, you will support the team in finding opportunities to increase retention and grow revenue. This role requires a proactive leader who can challenge current thinking, foster innovation, and deliver results

- Lead the team to consistently meet and exceed customer retention goals, identifying strategies to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty
- Drive revenue growth by implementing strategies that align with customer needs and the local market landscape
- Lead all aspects of territory management and ensure the team maintains a strategic approach to account planning, business updates, customer interactions, and market awareness
- Lead the team in increasing adoption of all OpenTable products and offerings, (e.g., product enhancements, product upsells, marketing services, and experiences)
- Stay current on industry trends, organizational initiatives, and company vision
- Partner with sales and leadership to help develop and deliver training programs
- Monitor team performance and operational metrics to identify areas for improvement, and implement adjustments
- Recruit, train, and onboard new team members, providing a thorough and engaging introduction to the company and its objectives
- Conduct regular performance discussion and provide consistent, actionable feedback
- Travel 25% of the time to meet with customers, attend meetings, and support the team in the field
Our take
OpenTable was one of the earliest innovators in the online reservation space, setting up shop in 1998 as a tool to enable restaurants to take bookings online. Rather than charging consumers for the service, OpenTable generates revenue via a monthly subscription and reservation fee from businesses.
Today, the platform is used by tens of thousands of restaurants around the world and seats over 1 billion diners per year. The company was acquired by Booking Holdings – the world's largest travel company – for $2.6 billion in 2014, and remains a subsidiary of the group to this day.
OpenTable is the dominant player in the restaurant reservation software category, with an impressive 45% market share, but does face increasing competition from platforms like Resy, Tock, TableAgent, and many more. Nonetheless, this market leader has garnered an impressive reputation, and there is nothing to say it won't hold on to the dominance it has earned into the future.
