Who you are
- You have 7+ years of professional experience working with some combination of Node.js, React, React-Native, GraphQL, and PostgreSQL (or similar relational database)

- You love using observability to drive reliability and enjoy digging into the details to solve performance, data accuracy, and user experience issues

- You thrive in a growing organization, and are not afraid of a challenging problem. In fact, you confront problems head on and take the lead on the solution
- Experience with integrations, large scale data migrations, and managing data accuracy in large data sets, is a plus
What the job involves
- On Rocket Money’s Account Linking team, we are obsessed with ensuring that our users are able to connect all of their financial data to Rocket Money, allowing them to get a full picture of their finances
- We pride ourselves on ensuring that our users can get the most out of Rocket Money by connecting their accounts and ensuring that this data is ingested, processed and analyzed quickly, reliably, and accurately. Our team is works at the cutting edge of innovation, finding new ways to help users get their financial information into Rocket Money
- Help our users get the most from Rocket Money by ensuring we can reliably connect and ingest their financial information
- Work in a cross-functional team of engineers, product managers, and designers to implement and support high-scale integrations
- Build out exciting features like dynamic multi-vendor account linking, duplicate account remediation, and new integrations with debt accounts and investment holdings
- Work at every level of our stack, from mobile development in React Native, to our backend in Node.js. And you’ll get to work with data observability tools like DataDog and BigQuery, and asynchronous workflow systems like SQS and Temporal
- Own complex features end-to-end, from initial product & technical design stages through to production, and making the key technical decisions that balance scalability, reliability, and usability
- Support a collaborative and innovative culture by sharing your ideas via RFCs, participating in solution ideation, and giving your peers feedback on their code and their proposals
- Help to maintain our high technical bar, participating in code reviews and design discussions to ensure that we're applying appropriate rigor to our software development process
- Be a steward of good data ownership, ensuring that the data which users trust us with is treated with the utmost prudence for security and privacy
Our take
Managing finances has become increasingly difficult in the last couple of decades, despite access to online banking and other financial apps. The mass of subscriptions, standing orders and utility bills the average American is subject to ultimately makes it difficult to assess and manage their finances within one place.
Rocket Money (formerly Truebill) provides a mobile application that includes a variety of tools that aim to simplify financial management. Tools include an automatic subscription tracker which aims to increase transparency and simplicity for canceling unwanted subscriptions, in addition to monthly spending analytics and budgeting plans.
Whilst there seems to be an app for just about every form of financial management, Rocket Money has taken much-needed action by unifying everything into a single app. The company initially focused on financial management tools, it's now branched out to more direct financial tools such as utility bill comparison services, autopilot saving and paycheck advance loans.
