Role
Who you are
- Fraud prevention and risk management experience – Proven experience identifying and mitigating payment or platform fraud, ideally in marketplaces, fintech, or e-commerce
- Analytical and data-driven mindset – Strong proficiency with Excel (or BI tools) to identify trends, assess risks, and inform decision-making
- Experience with fraud detection tools and workflows – Familiar with automated detection systems, case management tools, and investigation processes
- Strong collaboration skills – Able to build effective relationships across Product, Engineering, and Operations
- Strategic thinker – Able to connect fraud insights to broader business goals and user experience
- Decisive and organized – Skilled in prioritizing tasks, making sound judgments, and managing complex, high-impact issues
- Proactive and adaptable – Comfortable in fast-changing environments, anticipating and responding quickly to emerging threats
- Fluent in English – Spanish is a plus
What the job involves
- We are looking for a Payment Fraud Specialist to join our Trust & Safety team, reporting directly to the Trust & Safety Manager
- In this role, you will protect Wallapop’s platform by detecting, preventing, and mitigating fraudulent activity—ensuring a safe and trustworthy experience for all users
- You’ll go beyond investigation by designing proactive, data-driven fraud prevention strategies in collaboration with Product, Operations, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams
- Prevent and mitigate fraud – Monitor emerging fraud trends, identify abuse patterns, and design proactive measures to reduce risk while maintaining a seamless user experience
- Collaborate cross-functionally – Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to enhance fraud detection tools, improve automation, and ensure new features are fraud-resilient
- Leverage data for insights – Analyze fraud patterns and key metrics, identify trends, and propose data-backed improvements to detection models and workflows
- Investigate and manage risk – Conduct in-depth investigations into high-risk cases, identify vulnerabilities, and recommend long-term process or product improvements
- Share knowledge and mentor – Support teammates by sharing best practices, training materials, and fostering a strong fraud prevention culture within Trust & Safety
- Contribute to Trust & Safety initiatives – Support broader platform integrity efforts, adapt to evolving risks, and contribute to security, compliance, and moderation improvements

- Offer - should you be the right candidate, your offer will be discussed over a call with talent acquisition and will then be confirmed in writing
Our take
Wallapop has its sights set on becoming a major player in the second hand goods marketplace sector. The hyper-local marketplace helps connect sellers with buyers, much in the style of craigslist or eBay, but with a cleaner and more intuitive mobile-first approach.
Looking at transaction volume, Wallapop beats both Amazon and Ebay in its native Spain, where it has tapped into an increasingly popular consumer trend of mobile shopping, as well as both economic- and environmental-peaked interest in second hand. After a false start in the US market, the company's steps towards international expansion have been slowed - but it does have a modest UK presence and its eyes on much of the EU.
Focusing on the EU could prove to be a smart strategy. The size and popularity of its secondhand fashion resale market are rapidly increasing, powered by the runaway success of apps like Vinted, Depop, and Vestiaire Collective. Wallapop was bought by South Korean digital platform Naver, which will support existing operations and expansion in Italy, Spain, and Portugal, as well as funding developments in data science and other R&D.
