Role
Who you are
- If you love zero-to-one execution, collaborating in-person to accelerate innovation, and building systems that meaningfully influence company growth, we want to hear from you
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ in technical leadership
- Strong full-stack development skills with Rails + React (or equivalent modern stacks)
- Proven ability to lead ambiguity-heavy, greenfield projects from concept → delivery
- Experience designing systems that integrate multiple data sources and support complex workflows
- Hands-on experience building with AI/LLMs (agents, embeddings, orchestrating model calls)
- Strong communicator—able to align technical and non-technical teams around shared outcomes
- Track record of pragmatic architectural decisions that balance speed with long-term scalability
- We're committed to fostering a welcoming space where every Homie can be their full self. Experience comes in many forms—so if you're excited about this role, even if you don’t meet 100% of the qualifications, we encourage you to apply!

- Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Data, Analytics, and Product to translate business needs into well-scoped technical solutions
- Modernize and contribute to our experimentation infrastructure, helping teams ship faster and learn more efficiently
- Build AI- and LLM-powered capabilities (agents, workflows, embedded intelligence) that unlock new growth opportunities
- Elevate engineering quality through system design leadership, architecture reviews, and mentorship

Our take
Homebase provides employees and businesses with time tracking applications, with a range of other HR functionality built in. Homebase automates the process of managing employee scheduling and also helps companies improve internal communications.
The company contributes to the reduction of paperwork in an office by turning an array of devices into time clocks that track hours and overtime, while also providing payroll support. This makes it easier for companies to remain in sync, running a more efficient operation as a result.
Given that Homebase's customer base of small businesses is not able to pay a lot for its product, scale is the key driver in the company's future success. With over 100,000 customers already, its significant venture capital backing will ensure that the company will be able to grow (notably, it's investing in Canadian talent) to provide its services on a profitable scale.
