Role
Who you are
- Have 8+ years in Platform Engineering, Collaboration Systems, SRE, or Infrastructure Engineering at enterprise scale
- Own deep expertise in Zoom platform administration, API/webhook automation, policy governance, and operational management at scale
- Possess expert-level command of Google Workspace, with particular depth in Gmail — routing, deliverability, DMARC/DKIM/SPF, Admin SDK, and enterprise lifecycle management
- Hold experience partnering with engineering teams to develop and mature internal APIs — including RESTful design, versioning, and governance for admin tooling or automation platforms
- Have demonstrated project management capability — you can own complex, multi-team programs and deliver in a fast paced environment
- Be proficient in Python and/or Go with exposure to (IaC) Terraform
- Have experience with NPI programs, platform integrations, and cloud/collaboration ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP, Microsoft 365, Teams, Entra ID), and Okta for identity, SSO, and lifecycle automation
What the job involves
- We're looking for a Staff Engineer to lead the architecture, reliability, and evolution of our enterprise collaboration platform
- You'll partner on internal APIs, drive Zoom on Zoom (ZoZ) delivery, and own our enterprise mail infrastructure
- Success here means solid engineering fundamentals, an automation-first mindset, and a passion for leveraging AI to scale platform operations end-to-end
- Join a global infrastructure team automating and scaling enterprise collaboration, partnering across Engineering, DevOps, Product, and IT to simplify operations and enable seamless connectivity
- Administering the Zoom Workplace enterprise platform at scale
- Owning enterprise mail infrastructure across Zoom Mail and Google Workspace, managing routing, security (DMARC, DKIM, SPF, TLS), compliance, and integrations with third-party security platforms
- Leading end-to-end Zoom on Zoom (ZoZ) program delivery — requirements, dependency mapping, staged rollouts, and operational readiness — with solid project management discipline
- Driving champion AI-driven operations and observability by implementing automation (Python, Go, PowerShell, Terraform)
- Partnering with engineering teams to design, mature, and operationalize internal APIs — bringing a practitioner lens to usability, scalability, and reduced operational toil
- Identifying operational gaps and advocate for API enhancements, influencing prioritization and validating solutions aligned with enterprise needs
- Building and maintaining event-driven integrations using APIs and webhooks across enterprise systems (IDPs, ITSM, HR, and monitoring platforms)
- Serving as the primary liaison between product and infrastructure teams, translating product roadmaps into automation and infrastructure readiness plans

Our take
Zoom reworked video conferencing when most people assumed it was a solved problem, with services from Cisco and Skype already ubiquitous in workplaces and homes. However, its videoconferencing infrastructure was simpler to use, faster and more flexible than any previous solution, and it swiftly took the world by storm.
Its success bred competition, however, and companies such as Microsoft and Google, along with numerous smaller communications firms, have begun making inroads on Zoom's formerly commanding lead. Additionally, as workplaces are mostly adopting a hybrid or flexible working strategy, some of its importance as a workplace tool is wearing off and it is recording a gradual decline in daily usage rates.
To counter these trends, Zoom is expanding its business offerings through product development and strategic acquisitions. Alongside many other large tech companies, it has battled through a difficult economic situation, but it nonetheless remains a profitable company and household name. Plus, its track record of innovation means it is still very much one to watch in the communications space.
