What the job involves
- Working within OVO’s Energy function, this role sits within the Renewable Energy Team
- We’re a team at the forefront of the energy transition, leading the charge to bring more renewable energy to our customers
- This role sits within a team of experts on domestic renewable energy - who are leading OVO’s work to develop market leading propositions and tariffs for customers with renewable generation technology like solar panels at home
- You’ll be responsible for managing the accounts of some of our largest renewable generation customers
- You’ll build brilliant long term relationships, by developing a deep understanding of the needs of these customers, and always working to deliver the best customer outcome
- This is a brilliant role for anyone with a passion for providing great customer experience, and would suit someone looking to expand their experience or develop their career in the renewable energy sector
- Operating as the main point of contact for commercial generators, you will develop and maintain long term relationships with commercial generators to deliver a first class customer experience
- You will operate processes efficiently and accurately to ensure that we get things right for our customers first time, and always look for ways to improve outcomes for our customers
- When issues arise - you will work to solve them proactively and comprehensively first time
- You will embed customers at the heart of our processes and continuously seek out ways to improve and develop processes to better serve our customers
- You will develop an understanding of our contractual obligations and ensure we adhere to these in our processes and communications with our customers
- You’ll be responsible for planning and delivering your own workload within agreed timeframes
- You will prepare reports on key metrics associated with the customer base highlighting any areas of focus and potential risks or improvements (with support from team analysts)
- You will collect and analyse data concerning generator behavior to understand changing needs (with support from team analysts)
- You will coordinate with colleagues and stakeholders across the business to ensure consistent service levels

Our take
On average, home energy represents 26% of our carbon footprint. Ovo Energy wants to bring this to zero by providing cheaper, greener and simpler energy to customers. They are analysing meter data to deliver easy, personalised actions, turning electric vehicles into power stations with clever chargers, and building energy-efficient heaters. For households, their offering is organised into four different energy plans. that include interest rewards on energy credit balance.
In 2020, OVO completed the acquisition of SSE Energy Services' retail arm for £500 million, meaning that the challenger brand now has around 4 million customers in the UK.
While helping Ovo members halve their carbon footprints, the company is also working towards becoming a net zero carbon business by 2035. The challenges ahead for the company include encouraging consumer behaviour change, shifting towards subscription models for home energy use.
