Who you are
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Math, Engineering, or related field
- 2+ years of experience in credit risk analysis, preferably in the credit card or personal loan industry
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills

What the job involves
- Avant is adding to our Credit Risk team
- The Senior Credit Risk Analyst will play a crucial role in evaluating and managing credit risk of credit card origination business
- This role involves conducting in-depth analysis and providing insights to support risk management strategies and drive growth
- You will work closely with the team and cross-functional partners to drive data-driven decisions that balance prudent risk management with aggressive growth in a dynamic FinTech environment
- This is a high-impact role with visibility to senior leadership and direct influence on our credit risk framework
- Lead the end-to-end strategy change from hypothesis and proposal to implementation and performance tracking
- Perform comprehensive credit risk analysis for various portfolios
- Develop and maintain detailed credit risk models and tools
- Conduct advanced data analysis to evaluate risk and identify trends
- Prepare and present detailed risk reports and presentations for senior management
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop risk mitigation strategies
- Build business cases for new credit risk initiatives to drive growth
- Monitor and analyze economic and industry trends affecting credit risk
- Assess and address issues to identify and implement improvements toward efficient account management and servicing operations

Many Americans with below average credit scores are caught in a bind: they're unable to improve their score, and simultaneously cannot access traditional loans. Avant's alternative is to offer credit options that are powered by machine learning and based upon a large database that helps to manage risk.
For its users, the company offers a quick credit decision and speedy access to any allotted funds. It has issued over $8 billion in loans to date, and has also expanded its business through the acquisitions of ReadyForZero in 2015 and Zero Financial in 2021.
This expansion has enabled Avant to reach towards its goal of offering a whole suite of products in a single platform, such as loans, credit cards, and deposits. Although there are many FinTechs looking at ways to remove the barriers that people with low credit scores face when trying to take out loans, this expansion to banking products should help Avant to stand out.
