Role
Who you are
- You have demonstrable experience in Release Engineering, DevOps and Cloud Engineering, preferably with microservices SaaS products
- You are an expert in Linux operating system (i.e. administration, troubleshooting and automation) with strong understanding of foundational internet technologies such as HTTP/S, DNS, TCP/IP, SSL
- You are an expert in designing cost effective production infrastructure with special attention to high-availability, failover, scaling and security
- You have experience in application containerization, orchestration, monitoring, logging, automation and troubleshooting with Kubernetes platform and related best practices
- You are an expert in scripting with Bash and Python
- You have run SQL and NoSQL in production e.g. PostgreSQL, Redis or MongoDB
- You love to build great things together with your team and you have excellent communication skills
- You are a highly reliable person and you like to take ownership for your work and a fast learner
- Professional training or certification in cloud/sysad/devops/infosec is nice-to-have
Desirable
- Background in information security is nice-to-have
- Knowledge in the management of Apache Kafka clusters is nice-to-have
What the job involves
- You'll maintain and advance the cloud infrastructure, that is the backbone for our global Trade Finance platform, based on Kubernetes, Docker and AWS
- You'll be maintaining infrastructure for Business Intelligence
- You'll improve operational visibility of our systems by advancing monitoring, alerting and centralized logging infrastructure with Prometheus, Grafana, PagerDuty, EFK and Graylog
- You'll handle production incidents and write RCAs
- You'll maintain and advance the CI/CD pipelines using best practices, and work closely with our Dev Teams to support and improve the whole software development life-cycle
- You'll maintain IaaC and CM code base e.g. Terraform, Ansible, Packer
- You'll participate in Engineering decisions to further improve our infrastructure and processes
- You'll also help out in the client support and the office network configuration
- You'll mentor and support the Junior team members with your knowledge and experience
Our take
SMEs play a vital role in global trade, representing 98% of exporters and contributing 30% to global volumes. However, over half of their trade finance requests are rejected by banks, creating a massive $1.5T funding gap. This leaves SMEs unable to seize new trade opportunities despite growing global trade and consumer demands.
Modifi aims to bridge this gap - it provides SMEs with simple digital solutions to finance and manage their trades, protect them from counter-party risk, and easily track their shipments. It services over 1,000 buyers and sellers across more than 40 countries. Since being founded in 2018, Modifi has grown at an astounding rate and is now the only digital trade finance platform for SMEs that spans the three major trading regions of Europe, Asia and North America - a cluster which encompasses approximately 80% of global imports and exports.
Following major funding across multiple rounds, Modifi's current strategy is focused on addressing increasing demand and helping more SMEs trade internationally on their digital platform. Fundamentally, with the OECD predicting that the trade finance landscape is to undergo "profound changes" in the coming years, Modifi has a great opportunity to be at the forefront of change for the better.
