What the job involves
- We’re seeking an Experiential Event Sales Manager to join our Sales team. The Experiential Event Sales Manager will report directly to the Director of UK Sales
- The Experiential Event Sales Manager (Senior Account Manager - Conference) will play a key role in driving revenue growth from a blend of account management and new business development, aligned with Convene’s business objectives in the UK
- This individual will maximise revenue through the proactive management of a portfolio of key accounts as well as expanding Convene’s presence in the experiential market by attracting experiential agencies and brands to bring large-scale events to our premium venues
- Reporting directly to the Director of Sales and collaborating closely with the wider sales team, sales leadership, revenue management, corporate legal, and marketing teams, the Senior Account Manager will serve as a key driver of growth, increasing revenue across business and consumer event sectors, this role will elevate Convene’s market share and contribute meaningfully to its growth strategy
- Consistently exceed revenue targets through strategic sales and account management efforts and ensure team alignment with broader commercial objectives
- Cultivate relationships with managed accounts, aiming to elevate them to the Regional/Enterprise level or identify accounts that could benefit from MSAs across our global portfolio
- Actively drive new revenue growth by capitalising on opportunities in the experiential events market
- Act as a go-to expert on Convene and etc.venues by Convene product offerings, including Meetings and technology solutions
- Articulately describe product features and translate them into functional solutions for clients
- Maintain an engaging and approachable sales presence, both in person and virtually
- Be familiar with competitors in the market and effectively articulate the Convene story and differentiation
- Business Development - proven experience in growing demand through strategic account development, expanding network of contacts and building relationships

Our take
Convene provides co-working space and meeting locations inside office buildings. It was founded to change the way people meet and work, and also to revolutionise how office buildings offered hospitality services to tenants.
Convene's revenue decreased by over 60% in 2020, after the pandemic disrupted its in-person events. In response to this, the company has diversified into the video meetings market. It hosts virtual and hybrid events that more closely resemble the feeling of attending a live business conference. Users can attend the conferences online and interact with the speakers, the hosts, and other attendees in private video chats.
Convene has done well to navigate the macro challenges and reinvent itself, but there will be more challenges to come; Convene also operates in a market with big players, such as Zoom. However, in 2023, the company acquired etc.venues, widening Convene's net to the UK and establishing it as one of the largest premium and event venue companies in the US and UK with 38 locations across the two countries. The goal now is to generate a revenue of $100 million a year by 2025 and it hopes its virtual operations will form a larger percentage of this.
