Role
Who you are
- BS in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years experience developing and benchmarking ML algorithms
- Experience pushing and maintaining ML algorithms in production
- Strong Python skills with experience in ML frameworks such as PyTorch
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
Desirable
- Experience fine-tuning Large Language Models
- Experience deploying deep-learning based models to edge devices or air gapped environments
- Prior experience in defense tech or start-up
- Holding an active security clearance
What the job involves
- Anduril’s Lattice software platform integrates together many sensors into a single cohesive view of the world, providing needed context for our users
- AI Engineers at Anduril build the next-generation generative AI systems such as language and diffusion models for application into the Lattice software platform
- Specific applications include but are not limited to automating mission planning, battle-space understanding, and enabling higher-levels of autonomy
- Propose and prototype LLM-based Agentic systems that help solve real world problems, leveraging the latest state-of-the-art techniques in the field
- Fine-tune transformer based language models
- Develop and maintain core training and data management pipelines
- Work cross-functionally with different business lines across Anduril to help discover and scope new research problems
Our take
Anduril makes hardware and software for defense agencies including the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security. Its hardware products include specialist drones with a long flight time and surveillance towers.
This hardware is tied together by proprietary software, the Lattice platform, which uses sensor fusion, machine learning, and mesh networking to integrate real-time data from Anduril hardware and third-party systems into a single, autonomous operating picture. While the hardware observes and detects, the software can make decisions as to the threat level of any anomalies, and so allow for observation and protection of an area or building with minimal manpower.
Anduril closed a Series E funding round in 2022 led by Valor Equity Partners. This funding was used for research and development of its autonomous defense products, such as the Roadrunner, a modular twin-jet powered autonomous vehicle that can take off and land vertically. Variants of the Roadrunner include defensive warhead armed interceptors which are the first drone weapons that can be retrieved after deployment. The company has also expanded to Australia where it is working in tandem with the Australian Defence Force to improve its military technology and infrastructure and is recruiting talent worldwide to support its rapidly growing portfolio of defense projects.
