Our take
Each year, around 60M chickens are raised for meat, but even in the best farming conditions, their welfare often falls short. The most committed farms may inspect their flocks once or twice a day, yet in that brief window, chickens can become sick or injured.
This is where FLOX comes in, an innovative platform designed to enhance the welfare of chickens. Using computer vision, automated alerts, and real-time analytics, FLOX continuously monitors flocks, notifying farmers the moment an issue arises so they can act quickly. Beyond improving animal welfare, the platform also generates invaluable data, giving farmers deeper insights for better planning and decision-making.
Since its founding in 2018, FLOX has already gone live in 10 commercial sheds, including those operated by the UK's largest poultry producer. The company has also secured significant funding, including backing from DEFRA's Farming Innovation Programme, to develop a scalable industrial demonstrator system and further advance the platform. With the demand for poultry going nowhere, FLOX is poised for an exciting future, with its game-changing solution to an industry in need of innovation.
