Role
Who you are
- Experience operating at scale Cloud (SaaS, IaaS or PaaS) products and services in a Cloud environment with high degrees of automation
- Proven experience in building and operating applications at production-quality in the cloud with Cloud native technologies like Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Helm, CI/CD and other IaC tools
- Experience in provisioning and orchestrating infrastructure and services
- Experience operating with at least one of the major 3 Cloud providers (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
- Experience with metrics and monitoring solutions such as Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Mimir or similar (like ElasticSearch, Kibana)
- High standards on building platform and infrastructure setups with automation, modular reusable infrastructure as code, GitOps, Test- and CI/CD-driven
- The ability to solve problems independently and are driven towards execution
- A highly pragmatic approach paired with a high sense of ownership and the ability to work as a team
- A good understanding of how agile software engineering using Kanban works
- Excellent English communication skills and able to work in a collaborative team environment
What the job involves
- Work closely with Cloud product teams to understand their requirements and develop solutions that meet their needs
- Run our AWS, GCP, and Azure global infrastructure and services with Helm, Terraform, Kubernetes, ArgoCD and other industry-standard tools
- Employ modernized software delivery methods such as infrastructure as code, distributed containerized service deployments to automate the delivery and deployment of customer-facing products and internal systems like observability and monitoring
- Build central services and platform systems that benefit multiple teams or stakeholders
- Design, develop, and maintain the platform's tools and infrastructure, including project management, data analysis, automation, and software development tools
- Provide training and support to product teams to help them effectively use the platform's tools and infrastructure
- Measure and report on platform performance, identifying areas for improvement and making recommendations on how to optimize performance
- Be on call on a rotational basis
- Live a culture of teamwork, quality, growth, drive to action, and excellence
- Contribute to the overall platform and engineering vision of HiveMQ

The concept of the Internet of Things (IoT) presents huge potential for smart devices of the future, enabling the transferring of data between devices for cutting-edge enterprise workflows. However, it is currently difficult to transfer the necessary data quickly and reliably to facilitate a seamless IoT experience for enterprises, preventing the technology from being a reliable business solution.
HiveMQ provides an IoT data transfer solution, leveraging an MQTT broker designed for cloud-native deployments to efficiently utilize cloud resources and reduce bandwidth for seamless data transfers. The technology can facilitate connections of up to 10 million devices, guaranteeing that no data is lost when empowering enterprises.
Whilst other data transfer solutions are sufficient for consumer-grade connections, HiveMQ has recognised that this is not so for enterprises, smartly leveraging MQTT brokers to provide IoT connections that are fast, reliable, and secure. The technology can be deployed on private, hybrid and public clouds such as AWS and Microsoft Azure, and is paired with the HiveMQ Cloud Platform to facilitate MQTT cloud-broker cluster management. In March 2023, HiveMQ achieved an impressive benchmark of 200 million simultaneous connections, indicating its platform's growing strength.
