Role
Who you are
- 4+ years of experience as a security engineer with development experience
- Some experience with TypeScript and/or Node.js
- Functional knowledge of the OWASP Top 10 and how they apply to modern systems
- Experience with common SAST and DAST tooling and best practices
Desirable
- Experience launching and/or managing a bug bounty program
- An understanding of HIPAA requirements and how they apply to application security
- Experience with Web Application Firewall (WAF) tuning and alerting
- Familiarity with JS front-end libraries, preferably React
- Experience interfacing with 3rd party pentesters to validate findings and develop remediation plans

- The Security Team at Rula is responsible for ensuring the protection of patient data and all of the technology behind our platform
- We maintain close partnerships with Engineering and Product teams, but interface with everyone across the company to ensure that security is an organic and adopted element of our culture
- In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to enhance the security of our code and development practices, and launch a vulnerability management program with Engineering and external partners

More than half of adults in the US will be diagnosed with a mental illness during their lifetime, and yet inaccessibility of treatment remains a huge problem. That’s what Rula aims to solve, with its platform that matches users to therapists that are covered by their insurance.
The company, formerly known as Path, is partnered with a number of major health insurers, including UnitedHealthcare and Anthem, making it an accessible service for millions of Americans. It allows users to browse therapists almost instantly, with just a short questionnaire to fill in before their matches are shown.
Though the market for tech services offering mental health provision is an overstuffed one, with giants like BetterHelp as well as newer competitors, Rula's partnerships with insurers set it apart. The business has been steadily growing, and significantly bolstered its executive team in 2023. Its recent rebrand was designed to emphasise its vision to improve not only access to mental health care, but also clinical outcomes.
