Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of backend experience (Python, Postgres, AWS or similar cloud infrastructure) and frontend experience (React, React Native, JavaScript/TypeScript)
- A track record of owning features or systems from design to production
- Strong collaboration and communication skills — you write great docs, ask smart questions, and give thoughtful feedback
- A user-first mindset with a sharp eye for clean UX and performance
- Bonus: You’re familiar with the collectibles space or alternative asset marketplaces
- Think in terms of users, not just tickets. You have strong product instincts and care deeply about creating intuitive, high-impact features
- Love building. You enjoy jumping into unfamiliar areas of the stack and have a high agency mindset
- Are pragmatic. You know when to refactor and when to move fast — and you make those trade-offs with intention
- Are energized by ambiguity. You thrive in early-stage environments and like figuring things out as you go
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a Senior Fullstack Engineer who wants to build category-defining products — not just punch tickets. You’ll join a high-impact, cross-functional team focused on shipping end-to-end features that shape how people value, trade, and manage alternative assets
- You’ll write clean code, make smart trade-offs, and work closely with product and design to solve real user problems (fast). If you have strong product instincts, full ownership mentality, and a bias toward action, you’ll thrive here
- Own the work. Design, build, and launch features from end to end — from backend services to frontend UIs and everything in between
- Prioritize impact. Identify areas of highest leverage and dive in. You’ll make thoughtful trade-offs between speed, quality, and scope to ship the right solutions quickly
- Think like a product owner. Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to turn ambiguous ideas into working products that customers love
- Build for scale. Ensure our systems are performant, reliable, and maintainable as we grow
- Be a multiplier. Help level up your teammates through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and technical mentorship
Our take
Increased interest in alternative assets has resulted in an unexpected boom in the collectables market, as more people are seeking to diversify their portfolios. Alt is a trading and portfolio management platform capitalizing on this exciting new upswing, making it simple to buy and sell investment-grade trading cards.
Initially dealing exclusively with sports cards, the company’s platform has expanded to include other trading card types, ranging from Pokémon to Yu-Gi-Oh! Alt sets itself apart from the competition by offering its users a vast range of attractive options, such as no buyer premiums, cash advances, Alt Vault card storage and borrowing options.
By tackling the three key problems hobbling the uptake of alternative asset investments (liquidity, price transparency, and physical storage) Alt’s success certainly opens the door for further expansion into different assets like art and sneakers, ushering in a new model for alternative asset markets.
