Who you are
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master's degree preferred
- Demonstrable experience (10+ years) in infrastructure engineering and security, including leadership roles
- Extensive experience with both on premise infrastructure and cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Strong knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, Docker, Kubernetes)
- Expertise in high availability and disaster recovery planning
- Proficient in cost optimization strategies for cloud and on-premises infrastructure
- Solid understanding of information security principles, frameworks, and standard processes
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a high impact, fast paced environment
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
What the job involves
- We are looking for a strategic and hands-on Head of Infrastructure Engineering and Security who will also serve as our Chief Information Security Officer (CISO)
- In this dual role, you will be responsible for supervising the design, implementation, and management of our IT infrastructure and security programs
- This role directly reports into our Chief Technology Officer
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for the company's infrastructure and security
- Lead and mentor a team of 50+ engineers and security experts
- Collaborate with executive leadership to align infrastructure and security initiatives with business objectives
- Serve as the main point of contact for all infrastructure and security matters
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of cloud-based and on-premises infrastructure
- Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of all systems and applications
- Implement and manage DevOps practices
- Optimize infrastructure costs while maintaining performance and reliability
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive information security strategies and policies
- Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate security risks
- Ensure compliance with relevant security standards and regulations
- Oversee incident response planning and execution
- Promote a culture of security awareness across the organization
- Collaborate with CSO of Booking holdings and CISO at sister brands to align standard methodologies and leverage shared services across programs
- Work closely with development, product, and operations teams to ensure infrastructure and security needs are met
- Communicate effectively with partners, including technical and non-technical team members, clients, and partners
- Know the latest emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices
- Drive continuous improvement in infrastructure and security processes and technologies

OpenTable was one of the earliest innovators in the online reservation space, setting up shop in 1998 as a tool to enable restaurants to take bookings online. Rather than charging consumers for the service, OpenTable generates revenue via a monthly subscription and reservation fee from businesses.
Today, the platform is used by tens of thousands of restaurants around the world and seats over 1 billion diners per year. The company was acquired by Booking Holdings – the world's largest travel company – for $2.6 billion in 2014, and remains a subsidiary of the group to this day.
OpenTable is the dominant player in the restaurant reservation software category, with an impressive 45% market share, but does face increasing competition from platforms like Resy, Tock, TableAgent, and many more. Nonetheless, this market leader has garnered an impressive reputation, and there is nothing to say it won't hold on to the dominance it has earned into the future.
