Role
Who you are
- 5+ year of software engineering experience
- Experience working on cross-functional teams to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical groups
- Fullstack experience building modern database-backed (sql/no-sql) web applications
- Experience with microservice development
- Experience mentoring others, reviewing architectures, and establishing design patterns
- Experience driving all phases of the development lifecycle: planning, specing, execution, and measuring success, post-launch maintenance
- Experience working on highly complex projects with a focus on achieving sustainable results
Desirable
- Start-up experience
- Experience developing SaaS applications using the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platform
- Previous experience in products with high reliability/accuracy requirements (finance, mission critical systems, etc.)
- Experience with “on-call”, ability to deep dive complex issues and drive them to resolution independently
- Experience with NodeJs, Typescript, Kafka

- As a member of Rula’s Patient Experience team, you'll be shaping the patient experience and empowering them to work with their therapists and own their care experience via simple and delightful technology

- As a Senior Engineer, you will get to work across all of Rula's stack, both by contributing directly to our product and its development, as well as by driving meaningful technical conversations and solution-oriented decisions

Our take
More than half of adults in the US will be diagnosed with a mental illness during their lifetime, and yet inaccessibility of treatment remains a huge problem. That’s what Rula aims to solve, with its platform that matches users to therapists that are covered by their insurance.
The company, formerly known as Path, is partnered with a number of major health insurers, including UnitedHealthcare and Anthem, making it an accessible service for millions of Americans. It allows users to browse therapists almost instantly, with just a short questionnaire to fill in before their matches are shown.
Though the market for tech services offering mental health provision is an overstuffed one, containing giants like BetterHelp as well as newer competitors, Rula's partnerships with insurers do mark it out against the crowd. The business has been steadily growing, and significantly bolstered its executive team in 2023. Its recent rebrand was designed to emphasize its vision to improve not only access to mental health care, but also clinical outcomes.
