Who you are

Typically Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business or related; many listings prefer a Master’s or JD – desired.
Significant compliance experience (often 8-10+ years) in financial services/FinTech/payments; ideally with prior senior compliance or CCO role. – desired.
Deep knowledge of U.S. regulatory frameworks: BSA/AML, KYC, OFAC/sanctions, state licensing (money transmitter, money services business), consumer protection, payments regulation.
Strong leadership skills: ability to build and manage a compliance team, collaborate with business/product, present to Board/executives.

What the job involves

Develop, oversee, and continually enhance the company’s compliance management system: policies, procedures, trainings, controls
Ensure that the business operates within its risk appetite and regulatory obligations; translate regulatory requirements into practical business processes
Oversee AML/fin-crime risk (so the AML Officer often reports into or works under the CCO). The CCO ensures the AML program is adequately resourced, integrated into business strategy, and conveys to senior leadership/regulators
Monitor regulatory developments (federal and state) and ensure the company adapts its programmes accordingly
Serve as primary liaison with regulators, internal audit/external audit, Board of Directors compliance/risk committees
Provide reporting to senior management/Board on compliance risk, control effectiveness, regulatory issues
Foster a culture of compliance across the organization: business units, product teams, growth initiatives
