Who you are
- Strong affinity with security
- Computer or security degree would be a preference
- Encouraged to hold on of the following certifications or equivalent e.g. CEH, GCIH and CNFA etc
- Fluent English in written and spoken
- Must be willing to work on weekends – 1 out of 5 weekends
- Eager to learn, keen interest in security, pro-active, enthusiastic, analytical, communicative, take initiative, investigative mindset and team player
- Between 2 to 5 years of professional experience or similar
What the job involves
- The global team is 24/7 responsible for security monitoring, investigating and analyzing potential security incidents in the Swift infrastructures and networks
- Using a variety of security tools we are able to correlate various logs and detect suspicious or potential malicious behavior in our environment
- Once a threat is identified containment actions will need to be defined and carried out where applicable
- Swift will be offering extensive cyber security trainings, amongst others SANS and SPLUNK, so that any team member can reach expert level
- Security monitoring: detecting, investigating and analyzing events
- Perform log analysis on various security/network devices
- Handle and investigate suspicious and/or malicious emails reported by internal users
- Perform analysis on threat indicators and intelligence insight on daily basis
- Contributing to Cyber Security Internal Intelligence building
- Analyze latest security news and social media posts
- Participate in incident handling – identification, containment, eradication and recovery
- Prepare incident report for critical incident to management
- Create and maintain playbooks for security incidents
- Python development for automation in SOAR platform
Our take
SWIFT was founded in 1973 to serve as the bedrock of the international payments system. A cooperative society which is owned by its member financial institutions, it is a vital piece of the global financial infrastructure, securely transmitting payment instructions between over 11,000 institutions in almost every country. SWIFT handles half of all international transactions, on average 40 million every day.
SWIFT's only direct competition in the traditional cross-border payments sector are bodies such as China's CIPS and Russia's SFMS. Yet, lacking the trust and membership of SWIFT these are unlikely to make serious inroads in the international payments sector.
In recent years the competitive landscape for international transfers has been disrupted by the large-scale uptake of cryptocurrency. SWIFT has not been immune, facing competition from high-speed blockchain payment networks such as Ripple. However SWIFT has moved quickly to adapt, introducing SWIFT Global Payments Innovation (gpi) to increase the speed of transactions to nearly that of its competitors but with greatly enhanced visibility. It is also researching blockchain technologies, partnering with companies like Chainlink to trial its own cross-chain protocols that will allow it to continue to thrive in the new financial landscape.
