Who you are
- We’re looking for a passionate and hands-on accountant to join our finance team
- Bachelor’s or master's degree in accounting/Tax/Business/Economics or related field
- Or a degree to a tax clerk. (Steuerfachangestellter)
- Proven experience working in industrial, Software companies or audit firms
- Good working knowledge of HGB and IFRS, with a particular emphasis on asset and R&D accounting
- Experience with Business Central, Spendesk or a similar accounting tool
- Well-versed in MS Office, especially MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- A self-starter who can plan, organise, and take initiative to meet job objectives and deadlines independently
- A can-do attitude, driven and passionate about work
- Fluent in English and German (B2 level minimum)
- Flexibility to travel for meetings with the Berlin-based Finance team is required
What the job involves
- Reporting to the Finance Manager you will play a pivotal and important role by ensuring accurate accounting and reporting that will enable our company to drive forward during this exciting time of growth
- Process Improvement: Actively support in the creation of accounting new processes when required
- Manage General Accounting: Handle daily accounting tasks such as managing the general ledger, reconciling bank statements, AP/AR, and maintaining balance sheet schedules
- Month-End and Year-End Close: Handle month-end and year-end closing processes. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of all monthly financial information
- Tax Filing: Perform monthly USt Voranmeldungen and coordinate with tax professionals to ensure compliance with all tax regulations
- Compliance and Regulation: Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards. Stay updated with changes in financial regulations and legislation
- Audit Preparation: Assist in preparation for audits, work closely with external auditors and manage the process to ensure a smooth and successful audit
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments to support overall department goals and objectives. Explain complex financial information to non-finance colleagues as needed
- Helping with the system implementation: Set up the Business Central accounting tool where you will manage general accounting
Our take
Efforts to increase the efficiency of agriculture are a staple of European sustainability efforts, but Constellr digs deeper than other agriculture monitoring companies in that it aims to save costs on the technology used to monitor farming, reducing it by up to 97%.
German-born Constellr uses thermal infrared microsatellites to monitor global land surface temperature (LST), analysing and diagnosing the right amount of water needed for optimum crop yields. With around 70% of the world’s freshwater used in agriculture, about 40% is wasted. Constellr’s savvy use of space technology for good could be a long-lasting and highly impactful solution, and its founder's backgrounds as environmental researchers add to the company’s credibility.
Awarded a significant 10 million euros in seed funding in November 2022, Constellr’s partners have included Lakestar and FTTF, among many others. The number of investors is unsurprising, with Constellr’s potential to save up to 2 trillion euros in agricultural water wastage by the end of the 2020s as much a moral motive as it is a financial one.
