Role
Who you are
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Web Front-end development
- Proficient in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with experience in React. There will also potentially be the scope to use a variety of other Front-end technologies depending on project needs
- Strong understanding of web APIs and RESTful services
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
Desirable
- Demonstrated interest in VR, online communities, or be a VRChat user and creator! Knowing how our platform and community works will be extremely helpful for this role
- Experience working on a “live” app, shipping frequent updates and responding to user feedback
- Experience building unique web-based experiences to drive user growth
- Experience with virtual reality technologies and platforms (such as Unity or Unreal Engine) is a plus
- Previous experience building content (Worlds or Avatars) in VRChat
- Experience with Styled-Components, Redux-Toolkit, Typescript, and Front-end testing frameworks
What the job involves
- In this role, you will be responsible for supporting our business partners from a technical perspective, by developing high-quality Front-end solutions for our partners, ensuring they are optimized, user-friendly, and in line with VRChat's standards
- You will also be providing innovative solutions and answering technical questions related to the use of our product, VRChat. Potential project examples include; event management tools, web-based ticketing solutions, and partner website portals
- Collaborate with the Business Development Team and attend meetings with business partners to understand their technical requirements and challenges
- Develop high-quality Front-end solutions for our partners, ensuring they are optimized, user-friendly, and in line with VRChat's standards
- Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues faced by our partners, maintaining clear communication and providing prompt support
- Work closely with the engineering team to stay updated on VRChat's product developments and enhancements, ensuring seamless support for our partners
- Actively participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for the continuous improvement of our products and services
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the delivery of cutting-edge solutions for our partners

Virtual Reality is one of the technologies with the highest projected potential for growth. VRChat offers a free-to-play metaverse platform where users gather as avatars in virtual spaces to socialize and hang out, just as one would in real life.
Whilst competition certainly does exist, VRChat has positioned itself as a leading VR socializing-based product. It taps into a modern desire to form connections in digital spaces, with some users meeting their real-life partners in their virtual avatar form.
In 2024, the company announced a 30% workforce reduction, addressing overhiring during its 2021 boom. Despite these layoffs, the company remains focused on long-term growth and capital efficiency, positioning itself for continued success as VR becomes a key part of social connection.
