Who you are

A service / support oriented mindset is a must. The team is highly collaborative and acts as a force multiplier for the broader engineering org.
Willingness to learn and mentor / coach others.
Ability to communicate clearly in technical and non-technical settings.
Knowledge of Linux operating systems, Bash, and computer networking.
Experience writing code in a programming language such as Ruby, Python, Go, etc.
Experience administering cloud-based infrastructure: AWS, GCP, etc.
Ability to troubleshoot problems across a wide variety of production services: infrastructure, applications, datastores, configuration management, deployments, CI/CD.
Understanding of technologies throughout the software stack.

What the job involves

Collaborate with engineering teams to understand how to make their applications work at scale
Devise creative solutions to problems and either implement them yourself or work with other teams to do so.
Debug production issues at every tier of a massive distributed system, across dozens of services.
Work to improve our core platform architecture.
Embed with other teams to champion best practices around reliability, scalability, and observability.
Actively advance your knowledge in engineering best practices, serving as a subject matter expert in one or more topics.
Mentor and level up the knowledge of other engineers on the team and in the broader engineering org.
Participate in an on-call rotation approximately every 5 weeks.
