Data Scientist, Datavant

• You will have a relevant higher university degree. PhDs in data-heavy science areas may be particularly suitable, but strong graduates in data-related MScs are also encouraged to apply. Ideally you will also have experience of commercial/service organizations
• Expertise in the manipulation, integration, processing and interrogation of large datasets
• Expertise in either R and/or Python, with strong coding skills and annotation protocols
• Excellent communication skills
• Meticulous attention to detail in the production of comprehensive, well-presented reports using excellent English, and strong client-liaison skills
• A good understanding of statistical probability distributions, bias, error and power, as well as sampling and resampling methods
• Seeks to understand real-world data in context rather than consider it in abstraction
• Developed skills in the application of scientific methods to practical problems through experimental design, exploratory data analysis and hypothesis testing to reach robust conclusions
• Well-developed time management skills and demonstrable experience of prioritising work to meet tight deadlines
• The ability to work both part of a team and independently, without supervision as required
• A strong intellectual curiosity with an interdisciplinary approach, drawing on innovation in academia and industry
• Initiative and ability to independently explore and research novel topics and concepts as they arise, to expand Privacy Hub’s knowledge base

Desirable

• A Data Scientist’s main responsibilities are to process and analyse large health-related datasets, and contribute to the subsequent preparation of associated reports. However, there will be opportunities to work on a variety of projects relating to privacy of individuals in data
• The role will require occasional office presence, but home-working is supported (or a mix), as is flexible hours working. The role is expected to convert to ‘Data Scientist & Privacy Expert’ after completion of training and demonstration of a sufficient level of proficiency
