Role
Who you are
- This role is only right for designers who want to step up and have real ownership over a complete, end-to-end experience
- 4+ years experience in end-to-end Product Design experience across UX, UI and Research
- You are excited about joining a startup as one of the early hires and want to shape the design fundamentals of a young company
- Have a well trained eye for great visual design execution. You care about getting things right - one pixel off is a big deal
- Able to champion customer-centric design with energy and enthusiasm with a deep understanding of user-centred design principles and methods
- Strong fundamentals in interaction design, typography, colour and strong attention to detail
- You love getting to know customers and have experience leading user research from discovery through to user testing
- You excel at creating customer journeys, prototypes and measuring the success of potential product launches
- You have a strong portfolio of case studies showing your skills
- Mastery of design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and prototyping tools
What the job involves
- As a Senior Product Designer, you will be accountable for every feature you design - from the very first sketch through to implementation, you’ll drive all stages of the design process
- Work directly with your product manager and your engineers, as well as regular interaction with our founders, in order to dream up and build new experiences for customers
- Deliverables include designing use case & scenarios exploration, wireframes & prototypes, mockups of screens and flows, production of visual assets, and design guides documentation required for proper implementation of the designs
- Craft every detail of the Sunsave experience, from idea to UX to pixel-perfection
- Engage closely with our users to understand what they need, want, love, and hate; lead user research interviews, usability sessions and generative discovery work
- Invest in design standards, documentation, and processes to define our design practice
- Hybrid working approach. As a company we approach this on both a team and individual basis. As a guideline we’re looking for flexibility to have at least one day in the office once every 1-2 weeks, but there’s plenty of flexibility for whoever fulfils the role to be in the office much more (and even full time), if desired
Application process
- Exploratory call with Product Manager or CEO to discuss background and go through your initial questions about Sunsave (20-30 mins)
- Take-home task to evaluate key skills for the role. We’ve worked hard to keep it as short as possible to be respectful of your time. And if successful, a follow up call with CEO/PM/Head of Growth to talk through the task and understand your approach (45 Minutes)
- Culture & Fit Interview –with the Founders to discuss your experiences and motivations for working at Sunsave, approaches to certain scenarios, working style and what you’ll bring to this role (30 Minutes)
- References and informal coffee type chats with a few key members of our team, who you’d be working with closely, if successful

Sunsave, founded in 2022, is on a mission to make the power of solar accessible to every household in the UK. They're the first (and as of 2025 the only) company in the UK to offer an FCA-authorised solar subscription service - a model that's been very successful in places like Germany and the US.
70% of people in the UK are interested in solar, and Sunsave's model removes the biggest barrier to adoption - the ~£10k typical upfront cost and long payback period - so customers can save on their energy bills from day one. They offer an all-in-one subscription that includes finance, installation, monitoring and maintenance, really helping customers get the most out of their systems
Already, the company has attracted the attention of blue-chip VC funds such as Norrsken, IPGL, the UK Department of Energy, and household name entrepreneurs, including Michael Spencer and Stuart Rose. Alongside this, they raised a £13M Series A in July 2025, alongside a £100M debt facility to scale their subscription model.
They plan to also expand into complementary products like EV chargers and heat pumps, alongside tariff optimisation and energy insight software. The eventual aim is to build the company's first decentralised home energy platform and revolutionise households' relationship with energy.
