Who you are

Square is looking for an enthusiastic, curious, driven professional to grow our Large Business sales team
You should have experience doing cold outreach to large businesses and selling to business executives such as Directors, VPs, and CXOs of large businesses
2+ years in a qualifying or prospecting role, especially with cold sales outreach to large businesses
A BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience
Experience working in a B2B sales type role
Comfort with delivering technical and value conversations with VPs or C-level executives
Must be located in either New York, San Francisco, or St. Louis

What the job involves

This team sells our payments systems to large retailers, restaurants, professional services and other kinds of in-person and digital businesses
This is an outbound sales development position where you will prospect into the largest potential Square customers. You will generate interest from these prospects to pass to our Account Executive team to continue the sales cycle
Master the Square Platform’s product capabilities and value propositions to guide client conversations
Prospect large businesses and promote awareness of Square's capabilities
Build campaigns to educate large businesses and use cold calling techniques to open doors for communication
Conduct cold outreach via phone, email, SMS text, and other digital tools to generate interest and schedule meetings for the Account Executive team
Support RFP processes as needed
Manage key internal and external partner alliances
Participate in sales forecasting and other sales leadership activities
Travel to industry events and trade shows

Our take

Block is a financial services technology company comprising of Square, Cash App, Spiral, TIDAL, and TBD. Its biggest brand, Square, offers hardware and software for small to medium-sized businesses enabling them to manage the entire payment lifecycle. It functions similarly to Shopify and Stripe, but has paired online payment processing with physical devices such as registers, payment terminals, and mobile card readers.

The business was originally founded as Square in 2009 by Jack Dorsey of Twitter fame. Already well-established with SMEs all over the globe, Square has significantly benefited from the increased demand for mobile payment systems. Its order management feature remains a go-to tool for small businesses that otherwise didn't have the proper infrastructure in place when demand for home delivery surged.

Square rebranded as Block in December 2021, with the Square brand name remaining in place for their seller business. The company has since come under fire for its security practices, facing lawsuits in relation to a major breach of CashApp user data, and in 2024 announced plans to reduce its workforce in order to cut costs. Despite these setbacks, there is every chance the business will move past this, though it may take some time to rebuild trust in its product.
