Backend Software Engineer, 8BY8

• Strong Python experience writing production code, with experience using the Django web framework (or similar - e.g. Flask)
• Comfortable picking up new technologies and tools outside your area of expertise. You are someone eager to get stuck in and learn new things
• 2+ years experience in your main expertise area
• Someone who understands quality / speed / tradeoffs, and can communicate them clearly to non-technical members of the team

Desirable

• Working on solutions that are used by leading sports federations, teams, and players around the world: pre-match, post-match, and live during play. We offer features such as low-latency video delivery to managers pitch side and tools to help analysts evaluate millions of data points quickly and easily for pre-match preparation.
• Developing an engineering culture that values pragmatism, learning, and teamwork through mentoring your colleagues and by influencing our ways of working
• Building backend services and APIs to interface with our main web app.
• Extending our video encoder control plane - allowing automatic and remote control of commercial encoding hardware on site at customer events.
• Scaling our video management service to handle our exponentially growing library of video.
• Designing and build services for storing, indexing and querying our in-house data store of public and customer-proprietary data sets
• Opportunities to travel on site to some of the top sporting events in the world to learn from, and support our customers in using our product
