Role
Who you are
- 10+ years of software development experience
- Experience in compiled languages such as C# or Java
- Experience with API design patterns, server-side architecture/design
- Provided mentorship to other engineers
- Led large technically complex projects
- Cross team collaboration on projects and collaborated between product managers and engineering
- Participated in system design review groups such as an Architectural review committee
- Full Stack experience with stronger preference on the backend
- Familiarity with A/B Testing (Bonus)
- Experience with notifications such as Mobile Push Notifications, Web Notifications, Email or SMS notifications (Bonus)
- Experience in machine learning (Bonus)
- Experience in Android / iOS development (Bonus)
- Experience working with big data, data pipelines, and data analytics (Bonus)
What the job involves
- The Notifications Team is building Roblox's next generation notifications platform to allow our teams and developers to easily build respectful and helpful notification experiences for our users
- These notifications include Push, In-App/In-Experience, Messages, Email, and SMS - basically any way a user is contacted both on-platform and off-platform. The mission of our team is to connect the right user, to the right content, at the right time
- We are also building what we call our Core Pipeline, making sure that we can deliver notifications of all types to our users
- Lead the backend development for our Notifications team
- Build functionality to grow millions of users through our delivery channels, ensuring that our platform is scalable and providing the best possible user experience
- Report to the Engineering Manager on the Notifications Team

In addition to standard games, the platform offers virtual worlds and other experiences to explore and interact with. Its platform provides an online ecosystem for millions to create, socialize, chat, and explore immersive experiences with friends. In fact, in the US its used by two-thirds of children aged 9 to 12.
The experiences on the platform are made by Roblox's over three million creators, and are available on a range of devices from PC to Xbox to Oculus, and more. The company has grown at an impressive rate, and has been keen to adopt new developments in the tech world, for example with its real-time AI translation for players to interact outside their native tongue.
