Who you are
- You have 5 years of experience in innovation/product developement/FMCG
- You are passionate about food : Genuine love and passion for food with curiosity for global cuisines and food cultures
- You are capable of aligning innovation with the company’s vision, brand, and market positioning, ability to balance creativity with practicality and feasibility. You are able to think outside the box and envision future trends
- You are comfortable navigating ambiguity and pivoting quickly in a fast-paced environment with limited budget & structure
- You have outstanding communication and problem-solving skills
- You are able to take feedbacks from senior leaders, stay objective, and turn inputs into actionable improvements while keeping project goals on track
- You are Fluent in French and English (it's our internal language at La Vie!)
What the job involves
- The Senior Innovation Manager drives the development of consumer focused innovations from concept ideation to launch. This role also ensures all our portfolio meets consumer needs by leveraging strong consumer insights and building an agile consumer testing strategy
- Develop a strong understanding of your market: consumer needs, category drivers, and trends
- Create consumer-focused concepts and build strong business cases in collaboration with local teams
- For each NPD, set clear strategic objectives with KPIs and turn them into an inspiring marketing brief for R&D and Ops teams
- Partner with R&D, Culinary, and project teams to ensure on-time, high-quality and consumer centric product launches
- Set packaging objectives and partner with our internal studio to deliver relevant packagings
- Lead annual "Growth spaces review" to identify growth opportunities for our product portfolio and innovation pipeline
- Co-lead the annual review of the innovation pipeline with Head of Innovation and Innovation team
- Develop an agile consumer testing strategy with clear KPIs and tailored methods for each project
- Track consumer trends with insightful quarterly dashboards
- Track consumer feedback and turn them into actionable recommendations

Our take
The Veganism boom came around the 2010s and is still very prevalent with a huge market for plant-based foods. La Vie is a Paris-based company that develops vegetable meats with two products so far: Vegetable Bacon Lardons and Vegetable Bacon. The company's passion for what it does came from the rise in intensive breeding now amounting to 14.5% of today’s CO2 emissions, 27% land use and 77 billion animals left in pieces in 2021.
The company had a huge win at the end of 2022 announcing its partnership with Burger King. La Vie bacon was rolled out across all UK stores in line with Veganuary. This partnership is said to be ongoing as Burger King hopes to be 50% plant-based by 2030 which is a huge success for La Vie. The company also won ‘Best Plant-Based Bacon in the UK’ at the Plant Based World Expo for the second consecutive year as well as ‘Best Vegan Bacon’ at the PETA UK Vegan Food Awards.
The company raised 25 millions Euros at the beginning of 2022 from Angel Investors including Natalie Portman. In only a short-time the company has been super successful and has established some well-rooted relationships for its product. We’re excited to see where La Vie takes its plant-based love and fun aesthetic next.
