Who you are

5+ years of experience working in the employee benefits consulting space
5+ years of consultant/broker relationship management experience with national employer health benefits consultants and brokers (e.g. Aon, WTW, Mercer, USI, Alliant)
An ability to manage complex projects and achieve results against tight deadlines
A history of existing relationships in the employee benefit consultant space with intimate knowledge of inner works of the major firms
A desire to work in a rapidly evolving startup environment
A desire to be a part of our mission to improve the healthcare system

What the job involves

We’re looking for a VP of Strategic Alliances to own Garner’s relationship with the largest broker and consulting firms nationally
This role’s focus is relationship management, understanding client needs, and day-to-day execution
As the point of contact for key consulting partners, the VP will have the direct impact in the scaling of Garner’s core business
You will work closely with our Sales, Product, and Business Development teams to drive Garner’s presence in the marketplace and will report directly to the SVP of Strategic Alliances
Define and execute a business development plan to prioritize, target, and establish lead generating partnerships with national distributors
Build productive and professional relationships with key leaders within target firms and maintain high awareness/understanding at Garner’s core product
Coordinate across Sales, Product, Marketing, Client Services and Operations to manage partner needs and expectations, and inform go to market strategy
Together with Sales Operations, design a data-driven approach, goals and metrics to drive and monitor the overall success of national partnerships, including contracting targets, timing and closure rates, and measuring the overall health of relationships

Our take

An overworked US healthcare system has resulted in long waits and expensive prices. Due to rising costs, the health insurance industry often leads to patients not accessing the care that they need. Garner Health creates digital services that allow patients to find a medical expert that fits their specific needs, whatever their insurance circumstances are.

The startup provides an app that analyses local health-insurance claims history through AI. This data is used to recommend local medical professionals that will work with a patient's circumstances whilst providing direct communication channels for liaising. This helps patients to identify the highest-quality doctors and helps doctors improve how they practice medicine.

Despite other companies providing similar bespoke healthcare services, Garner Health shows a cutting edge by partnering with patient employers. This provides the financial incentive that employers must cover all or a portion of medical expenses, making healthcare financially accessible for all involved. The company has good funding at its back, and in 2022 partnered with Marathon Health towards reducing the inefficiencies of specialty referrals.
