Who you are
- At least 7 years of production experience creating top-notch externally-facing UIs and dashboards
- A creative problem-solving mindset and desire to join a fast-paced environment
- Strong TypeScript skills (Next.js frontend and Express backend)
- Proficiency in React
- Solid understanding of HTTP and HTTP-based APIs, including REST
- Capability to lead projects from initial requirements gathering to the production phase
- Experience developing using Docker
- Experience with open source and the developer community
- A love for developer tooling and an eye for how to design for developers
- The ability to move fast and learn from mistakes
- An enthusiasm for having the freedom to create with minimal interruptions
Desirable
- Experience with SQL for modern databases like ClickHouse
- Strong opinions on observability tools and a vision for making them 10x better
- Familiarity with additional languages like Rust or PHP for building integrations
What the job involves
- We’re hiring a seasoned Front End Software Engineer to help us build a petabyte-scale, high-performance observability platform with a laser focus on crafting an amazing developer experience (the DX in HyperDX)
- Shape the product: Own and build key frontend features, focusing on frontend systems that streamline debugging and monitoring for developers
- Engage with the community: Collaborate with open-source contributors and customers, solve their challenges, and incorporate their feedback into our roadmap
- Tackle technical challenges: Supercharging HyperDX to blaze through petabytes of observability data with lightning-fast efficiency!
- You'll unlock groundbreaking analysis tools that empower engineers to crack production issues like never before—all while scaling our cloud-hosted platform to deliver seamless, next-level performance for our growing customer base
Our take
Database management systems have long been important to the operations of businesses. However, these systems can be painfully slow. ClickHouse solves this problem with its ultra-fast database management system, that powers real-time analytics and apps.
ClickHouse's founding team hail from companies including Yahoo!, Netflix, Salesforce and Google. This has not only lent the company an impressive amount of credibility, but has also allowed it to identify the needs and challenges of enterprises when it comes to their databases. Its system works between 100 and 1,000 times faster than traditional options, and has led to the company being trusted by the likes of eBay, Uber and Spotify.
Valued at $1 billion back in 2021, it is clear that ClickHouse holds a strong position in the market, though it does face competition from rivals such as StarTree and Imply. It has seen substantial funding, the most recent of which is cited to help expand its product and engineering teams. In 2022, the company also launched ClickHouse Cloud - a fully managed, SOC 2 Type 2-compliant cloud-hosted version of its database that is now available in the AWS Marketplace.
